It took 7 years to recruit 51 patients for the IMPACT single-arm study on certiluzomab on top of LMWH-aspirin shows adverse outcome in 20% which is lower than non-contemporary controls. #ISTH2025

This is what we were waiting for. A direct comparison between apixaban and rivaroxaban for the treatment of acute VTE. Apixaban reduces bleeding risk in the first 3 months by >50%! Practice changing investigator-initiated RCT. #ISTH2025

Intriguing findings from a high-quality prospective study on SVT in #pregnancy and #postpartum. Incident higher, heterogeneous treatment, but low rate of #DVT and #PE. I was surprised and so were the authors. Would love to see the full results. #ISTH2025

Extended-dose DOAC vs full-dose DOAC #Renove trial #ASH24 Late breaking abstract. Officially, reduced dose was not non-inferior, but recurrent #VTE rates were low and there is a substantial reduction in major and non-major bleeding. Congratulations to the French colleagues of #Innovte!

Session on genetic risk factors for #VTE #ASH24. First abstract presentation on ARIC cohort. CHIP (clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential) is not rare but only modest increase for VTE in older adults. Key message: not worth screening for it.

The finding favouring LBMT arises from 2 components: 1) lower rates of clinical deterioration and/or escalation to bailout therapy and 2)) less frequent ICU admissions and shorter postprocedural ICU lengths of stay. NO differences in in-hospital mortality ⚰️ or major bleeding 🩸between arms. 🧵4/5
