It's exam season, and it's been a very busy semester 1, and every year we remind our students to look after themselves and this year, since we have an academic focused social media presence, we want to remind our staff to look after themselves! @micireland.bsky.social @miceducationfac.bsky.social

The Bottle Bin has been moved to the Library Entrance. The proceeds from these donations go towards the Student Welfare Fund run by MISU. This move also aligns with our promotion of sustainable practices within and around the Library. A great way to help overall! #MICLimkLib #MISU #sustainability

Week 12 is upon us & the library staff are hard at work making sure that our books are available for both staff & students. We have gone through Lost and Missing Lists, please check your shelves and desks and bring library books back to the Library Desk, we can reissue or return them for you.

Our first MIC Thurles graduating class to graduate here in Thurles! We are so proud of you, Class of 2025, and so happy we had the chance to celebrate alongside you all. Our graduates made the processional walk from the Cathedral back to St. Pat’s Campus and the sun shone all day long! Congrats!!

An exciting week in Thurles! For the first time since St. Pats. Thurles became MIC Thurles we are holding Graduation back in Thurles! We can't wait to see our Class of 2025 walk out of the Cathedral on Friday with their degrees. The library will close at 5pm Thursday & remain closed Friday Oct 31st.

It's Academic Integrity Week: what better way to mark it that highlighting our Academic Learning Centre in Room 219 with Deborah on Wednesdays here in Thurles. If your students are struggling or just need someone to chat to to help develop their skills please let them know Deborah is here to help.

Here are some Referencing Tips for Academic Integrity Week! Academic Integrity refers to honesty and responsibility in your studies, valuing ethical behaviour and avoiding plagiarism, cheating and dishonesty. More resources are available on our Library website. #miclibraries #academicintegrity

Text: Referencing Tips: 1: Take notes: As you research and write your essay, make notes of what sources and quotes you’re using as you go! Don’t leave referencing to the last minute!
2: Know what Style: Make sure you know what referencing style you need for the subject you’re writing in!
3: Tools: Use referencing tools like “Cite Them Right”, “Endnote” and the referencing guides in the library to help!
4: Double Check: Reread over your references and double check them to make sure everything is correct!
5: Be Consistent: Consistency is one of the most important parts of referencing. Make sure everything follows the same format!

MIC Limerick Library has a large Audio-Visual collection which includes teaching resources for School Placement, CDs and DVDs, and Microfilm documents such as Manuscripts and historic Newspapers which can be viewed our microfilm readers. The AV Library is located on the first floor.

Text: Audio Visual Library - MIC Limerick Campus has a large audio-visual collection which is held on the first floor of the library. We offer: Material for School Placement (e.g. posters, CDs, DVDs, cards, books, kits, realia). DVDs (e.g. feature films, documentaries, television series). CDs (Audio recordings compilations of voices that have been captured as they discuss their own lives, histories and experiences of events in Irish national and social history). Microfilm (Mainly national and regional newspapers from the 19th and 20th centuries, with some newspapers from the 18th century, and manuscripts from the National Irish Folklore Collection).

As we move into the colder months, MIC Thurles staff remember to pick up a book from our free book stand in the staff room to read on your break or at home by the fire. We restocked the bookstand over the summer & hope to see you all continue to exchange your read books here for a new book.

Our students came to us and asked when Thurles library would be opening later on a Thursday. We can now announce we will open until 7pm on Thursdays going forward, starting this week, Oct. 2nd. MIC Thurles library will revisit these hours later in the Semester to add more hours on a Thursday.

MIC Thurles Library is updating its hours starting Monday 22nd September. From week 3 our library will open for Semester 1 until 9pm Monday-Wednesday. Any further changes will be posted in the future. @micireland.bsky.social

Your Library Account is your one stop shop to keep track of all your details such as books on loan, books requested, due dates, fees, etc.  You can access your account by scrolling to the bottom of the MIC Library website page.
Accessing your Library Account allows you to update your details as well as keeping track of books on loan, books on request and due dates.
