The word 'daemonlogy' came up in conversation with my son today and I'm reminded of one of the book covers that really inspired me to do this professionally: Paul Sahre's design for Rick Moody's Demonology...

Off to press! The Library Cosmic by Ben Berman Ghan for @wolsakandwynn.bsky.social. Whenever I can, I include some visual reference to the idea of a 'group' of some kind when designing a cover for a collection of stories. This one is no exception.

More recently, the challenge was to say 'Star Wars' without using the Star Wars logo proper for Dan Golding's book published by @uminnpress.bsky.social

May the 4th be with you! Back in 1997, as a fledgling designer I was thrilled to redesign Star Wars Insider magazine (complete with recreating the 'Star Wars' logo in Macromedia Freehand). Creating a collage around the Lucasfilm provided Special Edition medallion felt like peak Photoshop!

Sad to hear about the passing of Jackson “Butch” Guice. One of my favourite comic book artists when I was a kiddo. Between him and Michael Golden, I’ll always have fond memories of The Micronauts. (I didn’t connect with Gil Kane at the time!)

Original inked black and white artwork by Butch Guice for The Micronauts #58 published by Marvel Comics.

Saw this over on @wlupress.bsky.social's Facebook page. So fun to see Human/Animal by Amie Souza Reilly in print! (And thanks to @clarehitchens.bsky.social for tagging me over on FB). This was such a pleasure to work on.

Definitely getting Red Lodge vibes from this photoshoot for W Magazine by Greig Fraser, directed by Denis Villeneuve. A tribute to David Lynch, with Kyle MacLachlan and Timothy Chalamet. Both Chalamet and MacLachlan portrayed Paul Atreides in Dune films. www.wmagazine.com/culture/timo...

Have your team filter out AI images in their stock photo searches. I’m not sure it’s a 100% guarantee but a good first step.

One of my favourite scripts for inDesign. Makes setting up baseline grid sooooo easy. Works on CS6 and up. It's free, but the developer takes PayPal donations: www.project-octopus.net/en/script-se...

Somehow, I’m one of the 768 accounts that Cheech Marin follows on Twitter. Even though we’ve never interacted, and I have no idea why he’s following me, I must admit to a certain loss aversion at shutting down my account there!
