I've done such good work with my mom over the years. during dinner tonight she was like "I was just talking to my therapist about misogyny and the patriarchy today" lol. she's seeing the patterns that she was always annoyed by but no one ever named it as "patriarchy"

Hi wear your mask at the airport even before you enter, for the following reasons and more: Airports are the global crossroads of viruses, bacteria, and germs. Facial recognition, biometric theft starts from the outside of the building. Interdependence, not individualism.

I can already tell this summer is going to be horrible bc it's already been hot since January and my room is so warm from these hot days that I can't even fall asleep rn despite doing everything I can to cool it down (thermostat reads downstairs and my room upstairs is always 5-8° hotter)

A strategy I am recommending to people who don’t want to mask all the time is always in healthcare facilities and public transportation, AND if you see someone in a mask, put yours on. The first helps protect spaces high risk people may have no choice but to go, the second shows them support.

March is Long Covid awareness month, and one thing you should probably be aware of is no matter how back to normal you are, you are at risk of complications from Covid, including LC. And those excess death numbers aren’t great either.
The scale of this unchecked spread guarantees a continuous mass generation of post-viral disability. The PMC estimates that 54 million total infections have occurred in the US in the first three months of 2026 alone. And with this transmission comes a massive burden of Long COVID, with estimates that between 205,000 and 820,000 new Long COVID cases are generated every single week from new infections. The PMC model indicates that between 1,200 and 1,900 excess deaths result from these new weekly infections.
Indeed, using actuarial data, they estimated that for 2025 there were between 109,000 and 175,000 excess deaths, up to 73 percent higher than direct COVID-19 deaths. As their figures demonstrate, these excess deaths are on par with the number of people who died of lung cancer (125,000 deaths) in the US, eclipsing deaths from colon, pancreatic, breast and prostate cancer combined.

Six years ago WHO declared COVID-19 a pandemic. Despite tens of millions of deaths, the world has not sufficiently addressed the ongoing impacts of COVID-19, and we are more vulnerable to future pandemics due to anti-science officials leading government agencies around the world.

This isn’t about convicting Don Lemon. It’s unlikely that will happen. It’s about intimidating journalists & making them censure themselves out of fear of consequences. It’s about eroding the free press because the administration can’t afford the criticism.

I get tired of saying it, but I’ll say it again: the nature of oppression in America is that they workshop it first on Black, Latino, Asian & Native people. But it is always, in the end, coming for everyone.

I’m really glad I was so principled at 18 when I learned politics that I basically made sure I was never close friends with conservatives. I knew I couldn’t avoid them so I was cordial but I made sure to know where they stood before fully trusting them. that has saved me some broken friendships.

The people who make Shein's clothes labor for ten to twelve hours per day (in violation of China's labor laws), some up to seven days a week, and earn as little as 15 to 30 cents per t-shirt.
Excerpt from a BBC article: ""We usually work, 10, 11 or 12 hours a day," says a 49-year-old woman from Jiangxi unwilling to give her name. "On Sundays we work around three hours less."

She is in an alleyway, where a dozen people are huddled around a row of bulletin boards.

They are reading the job ads on the board, while examining the stitching on a pair of chinos draped over it.

This is Shein's supply chain. The factories are contracted to make clothes on order - some small, some big. If the chinos are a hit, orders will ramp up and so must production. Factories then hire temporary workers to meet the demand their permanent staff cannot fulfil.

The migrant worker from Jiangxi is looking for a short-term contract - and the chinos are an option.

"We earn so little. The cost of living is now so high," she says, adding that she hopes to make enough to send back to her two children who are living with their grandparents.

"We get paid per piece," she explains. "It depends how difficult the item is. Something simple like a t-shirt is one-two yuan [less than a dollar] per piece and I can make around a dozen in an hour.""
