New global review in Nature Reviews Biodiversity, incl. CCRC’s Alex Sen Gupta, shows marine heatwaves are reshaping ecosystems from coral bleaching to kelp loss disrupting fisheries, food webs & coastal livelihoods. Urgent need to cut emissions, build resilience & adapt fast. doi.org/10.1038/s443....

The evidence of how quickly and how widely #ClimateChange is affecting #biodiversity seems more compelling by the day. Prof. @michaeltburrows.bsky.social of SAMS is author on a Nature paper published today describing the crisis as 'like shuffling a deck of cards'. www.sams.ac.uk/news/sams-ne...

There's been some healthy debate about which baseline to use when quantifying marine heatwaves (and other extreme climatic events). We summarize the pros/cons, explain why it matters and provide some recommendations in our new ms: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

🌊 The Marine Heatwave Research Focus is a working group of WCRP-CLIVAR, chaired by Antonietta Capotondi and me. We just published this review paper, and many open questions remain about their vertical structure, prediction and projections… rdcu.be/d2Xh0
