1971, Leafy Surrey. The Greatest Show On Earth were described as "A British Blood Sweat & Tears" due to their use of a horn section. They made two LPs for Harvest, & featured future Blockhead Norman Watt-Roy

1968, Leafy Surrey. This was actually an early gig for Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Page having 'inherited' The Yardbirds bookings. Fewer than 200 folk turned up, & according to the Social Sec, Jimmy Page popped out after soundcheck to visit his mum in Epsom

One tale is that many of the gigs were outwith areas covered by SRE from its transmitter off the Essex coast, so the relentless on-air plugging made no difference. How true that is I don't know, but apparently total losses were £17000, a lot of cash in 1966.

1966. The front cover of the programme for a package tour backed by pirate station Swinging Radio England. Many of the shows were not well attended, & the tour made a considerable loss

1968, Sussex By The Sea. Syd's last appearance with The Floyd. According a member of the support band, by that point Syd had "lost it completely".

1967, San Francisco, a management flyer trying to get gigs for six piece blues outfit Blue Cheer. After seeing Hendrix & The Who at Monterey, their manager, a Hell's Angel called "Gut" Terk, "suggested" they become a rock power trio, & half the band were sacked
