AI investments promise virtually infinite profits in the future, but they do not have a good product now (it's not a stable investment) No reasonable business can promise infinite profits, so they lose. But if you cap how much wealth a person can have, it becomes about the product again

I've been thinking recently, if it was impossible to be a trillionaire (through e.g. a very aggressive taxation of the extreme rich) the AI investments would be much less attractive.

What to learn from Sweden, Saxony-Anhalt and beyond? Europe has too often responded to the far right by moving further right. But the answer to economic insecurity cannot be fewer protections, weaker public services & more deregulation. Read my latest albertoalemanno.substack.com/p/europe-is-...

I never went through the console buying cycle, I started with old games so they could run on my laptop, then rented paperspace or other nvidia now to be able to play other things, and eventually got a decent PC. I don't think the only way into gaming is to grow up with the industry

It's very much not obvious to me! I'm a millennial, but for reasons I didn't really play video games until I was 20, and now I play a lot, mostly indie games. The experiences they discuss at the beginning of the episode do feel alien to me

Like many Europeans, I felt deep unease, not only at the deaths in Ceuta, but at Europe’s dehumanised response. By embracing this dystopian narrative, they turned desperate people into invaders, abandoned European solidarity and helped create the image Europe’s worst enemies want READ below

I second Direction, my hairdresser's favourite brand. They fade quicker than I would like too, but are easy to use or refresh colour. For me they stick much better to bleached hair than to normal hair, making it easy to keep a clean boundary between colours

Both the government and the Court of Appeal now treat protesters as terrorists and terrorists as protesters. It's hard to accept that a "Labour" government is imposing rightwing authoritarianism on the UK, but please read this column to see what's happening.+🧵 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

I wonder if T&E is imagining the "target passenger" to be someone who doesn't use international trains now, but might do so if it looks less scary? So it's more about lowering barriers to buying ticket(s) than actual journey?

In the article they mention reducing the speed from 330kph to 320kph because that makes trains easier to test somehow? If that works (I don't have high hopes) that would still be a pretty high speed train
