Current work/fun: lots of 12th c. English medical manuscripts, both for an essay on medical charms and a conference paper on monastic infirmaries. One of the stars: Durham Cathedral MS Hunter 100, made in or near Durham Priory. Shown here, fol. 85r & 118r, start and end of the medical texts.
A page of text from a twelfth-century medical manuscript, with near brownish-black text, large initials in red and blue, and one very large "C" for "corpus" with elaborate foliate decoration.A medieval manuscript page with only text, written by several different scribes in brown ink with red titles. It includes medical recipes and magical charms.
