Having an ADHD teenager in the family has an unexpected benefit for me. I don’t always welcome the challenge, but it forces me to be nimble in my responses to his seemingly unreasonable re/actions. I could lose my shit every time (default), but not doing so helps me be a better dad and person.

Apparently Balatro’s Painted Deck gold stake is the easiest gold. Just knocked it out in like 3 attempts. Foil Half Joker with level 6 three-of-a-kind, Gros Michel that never left me, Blueprint on a Throwback at 4.5x that’s also Polychrome. Boss was Amber Acorn. Beautiful.

Water Street Oyster Bar in Corpus was great the last time we were there. That was on St. Paddy's day in 2008, so take that for what it's worth, but it's close to the Selena memorial. So you've got that going for you. Which is nice.

I couldn’t be happier about communities across America adopting 9/25 as Dolly Parton Day. We are going to a local bar for happy hour tomorrow; it’s a fundraiser for her Imagination Library. Our kids loved checking the mail for the next book every week. I’m an atheist, but Dolly was a true angel.

We watched "The Gorge" tonight with the 13yo. Ridiculous premise, predictable subplot, bad accents, but what a "fun romp" as the 80s movie critics would say. Tense moments, absurd events. A crowd pleaser! Y'know... for a PG-13 thriller.

I’ve seen it through the series finale. If you didn’t watch the standalone episode “Gary” a lot of things won’t completely make sense, but that was just exposition. Stick with it, I guess. I appreciated the final season in context of all the previous.
