I've been slowly working on a little quest to do every in-game trade in each Pokemon game, with the goal of sending them all up to Home before Bank closes. Imagine the scream that came out of me when I sent DUX the Farfetch'd up to Ultra Sun from my Red save file, and found it SHINY!?

LRT this is very important. also consider the possibility of hacking in anything you can’t finish in time and keeping them in stasis in HOME until you finish the hunt/grind for real, in which you can take them out of stasis it’s not the same but it is an option instead of extreme stress and pressure

i am very thankful for all the women and queer people in the shiny hunting community though. despite the occasional complaint i may have about the inclusiveness and intersectionality of this community, it is still leagues better than most other gaming spaces and even other pokemon-specific spaces

being a disabled shiny hunter is kind of hard. people can judge you for using ie. turbo controllers as an accessibility tool and a lot of us aren't exactly doing financially great so we stick out as struggling to afford common hardware and merchandise. i feel embarrassed for existing, occasionally

Yesterday I learned that one of my sprites from 2003, this dragon I described in my gallery as "requested" (almost certainly on the PokéMasters forums), is apparently legendary in Italy as a Pokégod, "Luxor", supposedly found in FireRed and LeafGreen: web.archive.org/web/20050128...

friday thoughts: I think it's important that shiny hunters be vocal about and continue to recommend accessible hunting options like emulation and/or flashcarts for newer folks looking to get into the hobby but think they are unable to due to the high cost of games/equipment they see most ppl use

I did a new Yellow playthrough from scratch for my Mew trick article’s screenshots/additional research and I just love this game so much. Modern QoL is nice and all but genuinely, the originals are so worth playing. There’s a reason they rewrote all our brains.

the way people talk about red and blue you’d think they’d be unplayable, as if they didn’t get played millions of times by children and adults alike in the 90’s without a problem. if you do a normal playthrough, it’s just a game. things are pretty normal actually.

this is just a personal thing and isn’t that deep but i just don’t understand why so few people can engage with red and blue as normal video games. they’re good RPGs on their own merits. they’re not only worth playing for their glitch potential or as weird upscaled/“modernized” projects
