Congratulations to the Minnesota Vixen Women's Football on their championship title! The Vixen are the first professional Minnesota football team to win a championship. We'd like to give an extra shout out to MTPD's own Shawn Peters, who also serves as the Vixen's Defensive Line Coach!

While responding to a call in the area, Officers Kruyer and Morales noticed several kids watching them with curiosity through the playground fence at Jardin Spanish Immersion Academy. The officers began handing out stickers, and school staff invited them inside.

Eight-year-old Lawyer dreams of becoming a police officer. His mother reached out to Officer Vang, and we were pleased to be able to offer them a tour of MTPD's West Command today. Lawyer learned all about our agency and showed us a little of his Muay Thai skills. Thanks for visiting us, Lawyer!

Our Homeless Action Team (HAT) holds outreach events every Wed. from 1 - 4 pm at Central Station. Last week, HAT was joined by special guest Jen, sister of the late Lt. Bev Rodriguez, who oversaw HAT from its inception in 2018 to her passing last summer. We're proud to continue her important work.

In 2023, I passed legislation investing in transit safety. Now, thanks to our dedicated TRIP agents, we’re seeing the results. Riders are feeling safer, enforcement is up, and bad behavior is down. Proud of this work!!

Yesterday, Officers Q. Ahmed and Talavera-Dohsay boarded a train and encountered Metro Transit employees carrying signs to thank staff for Transit Employee Appreciation Day. While they chatted, many passengers responded with nods, smiles, and kind words for everyone working to keep the system safe.

Last Friday, MTPD participated in the Polar Plunge Law Enforcement Challenge, which raised more than $25,000 for Special Olympics Minnesota. Funds raised by this event help send SOMN athletes to the Special Olympics USA Games and so much more. Thanks to everyone who donated!

Last week, MTPD officers responded to a BRT platform for an elderly man with medical conditions who requested assistance to get to the Dorothy Day Center. Officers transported him & helped him up to his room, because it’s always worth a little extra time to treat people with kindness and respect.

MTPD's Homeless Action Team (HAT) holds outreach events every Wed. from 1-4 pm at Franklin Station & every Fri. at Central Station from 4-7 pm. Last Friday, with the help of Ramsey County & community volunteers, HAT helped over 185 during their event. As long as there is a need, HAT will be there.

During last week’s winter storm, MTPD officers spotted a vehicle stuck in heavy snow, struggling to get free. Without hesitation, they helped the motorist dig out, and got them safely back on their way. Stay safe out there and drive carefully in these snowy conditions – or better yet, take transit!

The Homeless Action Team was joined by a host of partners for a snowy outreach session this weekend, including partners from the City of Minneapolis, Hennepin County Government, & Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans. As long as there is a need, HAT and our partners will be there to help!

Last night, an unsheltered man with wet socks and shoes connected with the Homeless Action Team (HAT) during their weekly outreach event. HAT member Joshua Watson was able to fit him with new socks and boots, just in time for a particularly frigid night.

Officers Nelson & Jacka went above and beyond when they assisted a woman who had been transported to the hospital. The woman had a service dog, and, they ensured the animal was transported safely so they could be reunited at the hospital. Their compassion truly reflects the values of our department.
