Honestly, I have a lot of games on the EA App itself, and I play them as non-Steam games on my Deck. The Origin launcher was definitely much better in terms of reliability though.

On PC there are ways to permanently preserve your purchased digital games if a publisher or Steam ever decide to discontinue the distribution of the software you own. For this to work to console, you need to first jailbreak it.

You might be surprised that quite many people do it that way. In the old apartment I used to have my old PC connected to both a monitor and a TV and based on the mood or what I was doing, I was on the desk or the couch.

that PC is only for games. it only has bluetooth controllers attached to it, no mouse and keyboard. I have a separate older PC that I use for desk work.

the reason games don't get ported to PC in time is to create an artificial demand for consoles where game companies are in complete control. if people overcome their FOMO and generate an actual demand on PC it will be a completely different story.

I just don't want entertainment software to be locked to a single device brand, unless the software design relies on super critical internal hardware components, and the game vision cannot be achieved on anything else but the the device with critical component.

you need to force hardware rendering for web views in the Steam Settings to fix the laggy BPM. For SteamOS like gaming mode I use Bazzite and it works well with nVidia GPU's and the overlay works as expected.

It's what you need if you want your game to be taken seriously by non-gamers. I have non-gamer friends who love The Last Of Us but don't like Ratchet and Clank, despite the latter one bing an actual video game and the first one - a TV show with occasional gun fight gameplay

On PC you have near day one game cracks that keep publishers from attempting anything funny with game ownership. Sony is also shutting down the PS3 store with no guarantee for how long people will be able to download their games. Having a non-jailbroken PS3 in 2026 would be odd anyway though.

There's literally no point in owning a console anymore. Digital only games ✅ Online DRM for game ownership ✅ Online DRM for physical games (disc drive requires online registration) Expensive hardware ✅ Add the mandatory subscription if you want basic functions like multiplayer and cloud saves....
