Repo Lab, by Lauren Bon, gathered floodplain soil from under concrete of the Los Angeles River, and the encased seeds now germinating in a satellite dish at Ecotechnics. The show asks how we, as technical beings, sense and represent the living world. Opening reception Saturday 10/10 from 2-5pm.

Deep under the floodplain, we discovered clay at Metabolic Studio. Ceramicist Alex Tanasi created a zine, “Touching the Past: Clay as a Medium of Connection,” connecting ancestral knowledge, communal practice, and human creativity. Today he will be at the LA River Farmers’ Market, sharing his work!

Sounding From the Well. The red cable reaches from the surface down into the Mother Well, where Los Angeles River water waits to be lifted. Draw a bow across the cable. Listen as the well becomes an instrument. Join the Sounding. Fridays in July. 4:00-6:00 PM. Public participation invited.
A line of red cable creates a connection between a stilling well, the Mother Well, at Metabolic Studio. The well sits in a circle at the end of an earthwork “labyrinth”, a switchback path created using hugels, shaped mounds of earth. This sits in front of the Broadway St Bridge, and beside the Los Angeles River.
