I don’t want them here in TN. We already have more than the quota. Ugh!!!

Mookie Betts already elected to the Hall of Fame.

Mookie Betts’s high school names him to their hall of fame.

So far I have not seen any absolute “must have” World Series gear. I want a glittery gold cell phone case with a WS logo, and a super cool T-shirt. Is that so much to ask?

MeriIsKindOfADodgerFan @meridodgerfan.bsky.social · 29/10/2025

At least this one won’t go 18. If the 10-run rule existed, it would barely make it to nine.

Thinking of buying a longarm machine. Any thought from the #quiltsky community? This would be for personal use only, not going into the business of quilting for others.

Going on my “to do someday” list. Completed quilt is 88” x 94”. The wings alone call for seven yards of fabric.

MeriIsKindOfADodgerFan @meridodgerfan.bsky.social · 08/09/2025

I like it, but the dimensions feel off. It should have the narrow borders on the top and bottom, too. That will make it 84” x 53”. That seems super tall and skinny.

Long shot here, but giving it a try. The friend of a friend is looking for this quilt pattern. Any guesses where it could possibly be found? Nothing to go on but this picture. Looks like a combo of bear paws and log cabin-ish blocks.

Quilt in blue and white with bear paws type blocks and modified log cabin style blocks.

Progress on the bargello. Now to sew these strips together. They really aren’t bent, I just didn’t get them put up on the design wall very well.

Green, white, and blue quilt top in separate vertical strips of fabric. The strips need to be sewn together to create the final quilt top.

Starting a bargello quilt. Only the second one I’ve made. I have five of these strip sets but only two will fit on the design wall. The scary part comes next.

There’s a bargello in my future. Will be only my second one, we’ll see how it goes.

This was a fun project. I don’t normally repeat patterns but I’ll redo this one multiple times for my guild’s charity organization. This one, though, is going to a cousin who asked for a quilt that had butterflies. Well, I didn’t like the pattern I had, then I saw this pattern. Measures 67” square.

Trying to decide if this needs a black outer border. Currently measures 72 1/2” x 55 1/2”.

So school counselors are going to be replaced by a computer program rather than address the fact that there are too few school counselors, and those we do have are assigned ridiculously large caseloads and are given volumes of data entry tasks to manage rather than helping students?

MeriIsKindOfADodgerFan @meridodgerfan.bsky.social · 19/06/2025

In other news, just completed this quilt too. Picture is much more muted than the actual color. If someone puts this on their bed, it’s likely they won’t fall asleep due to the bright colors.

Please read and share this statement from Sophie and Colin Hortman, children of Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark. (via WCCO reporter Caroline Cummings on X)

"We are devastated and heartbroken at the loss of our parents, Melissa and Mark. They were the bright lights at the center of our lives, and we can't believe they are gone. Their love for us was boundless. We miss them so much.
"We want everyone to know that we are both safe and with loved ones. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support we have received, and we appreciate your respect for our family's privacy as we grieve.
"Our family would like to thank law enforcement for their swift action that saved others and for the coordination across communities that led to the arrest of the man who murdered our parents. We especially would like to thank the officers who were first on the scene to our parents' home and their heroic attempts to rescue our mom and dad.
"Our parents touched so many lives, and they leave behind an incredible legacy of dedication to their community that will live on in us, their friends, their colleagues and co-workers, and every single person who knew and loved them.
"If you would like to honor the memory of Mark and Melissa, please consider the following:
• Plant a tree.
• Visit a local park and make use of their amenities, especially a bike trail.
• Pet a dog. A golden retriever is ideal, but any will do.
• Tell your loved ones a cheesy dad joke and laugh about it.
• Bake something — bread for Mark or a cake for Melissa, and share it with someone.
• Try a new hobby and enjoy learning something.
• Stand up for what you believe in, especially if that thing is justice and peace.
"Hope and resilience are the enemy of fear. Our parents lived their lives with immense dedication to their fellow humans. This tragedy must become a moment for us to come together. Hold your loved ones a little closer. Love your neighbors. Treat each other with kindness and respect. The best way to honor our parents' memory is to do something, whether big or small, to make our community just a little better for someone else."

For those of us not in CA, can those of you who are in CA please share what the elected leaders are doing? You are going to be more reliable sources of information than the national media who have shown more concern for courting favor with the current administration than broadcasting truth. Thanks!

I am close to the point of removing family members and friends from my life completely who still support what is going on. I’ve been trying to hang on to the concept of political differences shouldn’t end relationships, but I think we’ve moved way beyond political differences.

I’m so disturbed by current events that even baseball isn’t providing a distraction. I’ve deleted the MLB app from my phone. I just can’t right now. When will Congress act? There’s got to be good, decent, honorable folks who will do what what is needed to uphold the oath of office, right? Please?

Another question, this one about this app. Why do I get only posts that are hours and hours old and nothing more recent than that? I’m still seeing people urging folks to call senators and urging them To vote “no” hours after 10 of them handed the country over to the dictator.

100

MeriIsKindOfADodgerFan @meridodgerfan.bsky.social · 15/03/2025

Question. Will the 35 Democrat Senators who voted “no” try to replace Schumer as minority leader now? Should they? He clearly is not the leader.

According to the Rs, Social Security is a scam and they want everyone in a market-based private account. Here’s what my market-based account has done over the past month.

Screenshot of my 403b investment account shows current value is well below contributions made. Huge decline over the last month.
