Yes I agree. To some extent, players/agents force activity into the latter stages of Xfer Windows to maximise £ out of desperation. But we could and should have sorted things earlier to avoid falling into this trap. Another by-product of the misalignment between Mgr + hierarchy.

As a friend who is don’t think is on here told me - Problem is we have a wages / revenue ratio of 77%. It’s improving as revenues increase but it leaves very little wriggle room on the 85% SCR target. So even spending almost 0 means you need a sale every year to give you some trading room.

It’s not a debate for the summer. It was a debate for last month’s transfer window. In June, he’ll have 12 months left on his contract. You can’t employ a manager with < 12 months left, he’d be a lame duck + the players would know. So this summer, we have to extend him or golden handshake him.
