“Axey” was not popular with the Shang kings, who complained of his intrusive “It looks like you’re ritually sacrificing a prisoner!” comments

It wasn’t even a bad call in the long run b/c everyone has kept engineering sedans for Europe or China, they just weren’t being federalized. The Germans have been doing the same with hatchbacks, which is why we get the CLA and F44/74 2 series on Sixt lots instead of the A-class and 1 series.

Like the current Charger is longer and wider than a minivan. It’s literally as American as you can get but the boomer troglodytes and chuds won’t buy one without a V8, never mind that the Turbo 6 is putting out 420-600hp.

Meowgue @meowgue.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
This gen Charger is a magnificent sales flop too, despite being by all accounts god’s perfect Mopar product. Unreasonably large, poorly built and entirely too fast. Which if Americans actually bought EVs, the parking lots would be full of the things because it’s absurdly large.

They made mostly competitive products, but the last time any of their normal ones was best in class was like the 1st gen Focus. It made sense to can them ten years ago b/c they just weren’t worth it marginally, but that was in ZIRP with cheap gas.

It goes from being impossible to a small business with tax advantages. It’s an incredibly wide gulf. But it’s still part of the difference between me having to fly two hours if I actually want to go to services (because the last congregation petered out in 2023) and having them down the block.

Meowgue @meowgue.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
There’s only like two congregations in my entire state that even own their own buildings because the expenses are nuts and everyone else is renting a space or it’s Chabad in literally just some dude’s house. Meanwhile you can easily run a church in its own building where the only FTE is a minister.

This is actually a pretty solid reason to never do business with anyone in Texas. Like regardless of anything else, that’s a whole Super Bowl halftime show of “do business here and we’ll fuck you over.”

Yeah I think it’s down to a bunch of factors that are trending positive but not yet. Tbh the Gubenatorial race there is deeply weird to the point I kinda wonder if Donalds being black, a transplant and MAGA might further depress republican turnout.

Like I want to say Pride of Aloha people spent double what the California-based cruises did? Which was still nothing compared to the resort visitors.

Meowgue @meowgue.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
It’s a weird nuisance industry in a lot of ways, like when I did tourism stuff, we’d get slammed on cruise days but that foot traffic didn’t really translate to coffee sales. And even then it was pretty ship specific because anything with a casino bought way less.

Yeah it’s a ton of people getting kicked up into a frothing rage when this is closer to a lot of Sanrio stuff where it’s pretty obviously aimed at adults, but like triple the price. Totally reasonable, but also UI’s just not a good fit for it. Merch looked pretty good for a pop up collab too.

This is a state thing, and the Feds don’t have a reason to be involved, nor good tools to deal with it beyond the FBI. Not everything has to involve the Feds either.

Tbh cities with a pop under like 50k shouldn’t exist at all, and cities should just devour their viable suburbs, or amalgamate. Most areas really don’t benefit from split local government. Also tbh NYC should extend to the Connecticut border.

Yeah the BIA police are pretty explicitly a fallback thing, with the goal being to have tribes being about as sovereign as they can be, which is like the only valid reason I can see to let a law enforcement agency be that small.
110
Meowgue @meowgue.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
That issue with First Nations communities is why the BIA Police for the smaller reservations in the US pretty much only recruits from tribes.

Honestly I just rushed like half of them down with a mega lopunny. Otherwise it’s fun but the controls and camera kinda suck, especially when handheld. Would be cool to see it polished more though.

That said flooding the zone with slop is how you make money on Kindle Unlimited so I’m not surprised AI has found a place there, displacing some of the monsterfuckers and royal road rejects.
030
Meowgue @meowgue.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
The thing is if this wasn’t AI it’d actually be interesting because teachers write some weird shit when they vent. But the slop machine probably isn’t gonna do that.

It’s the annual thing to build permission to not vote while pretending it’s for a principle and people should still take you and your chosen grifter pundit seriously. We go through it every single cycle and people always fall for it.

Ngl a pretty nice comparison would probably be the Ross rifle vs the Mannlicher M1895, (albeit with the development trajectory reversed.) it’s amazing and it has all these nifty features, but the not even that simplified relative is a better weapon for an army.

Meowgue @meowgue.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
Tbf the high end GMs in the One Year war are also finicky and difficult to pilot, but yeah the core block was not something you could justify in mass production (and the only U.C.suit to do so was the Victory Gundam iirc,) even if it wasn’t an obvious dead end at the time.
130
Meowgue @meowgue.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
It’s actually not even that much better. It’s a development prototype, and the basic GM is a value engineered model that omits two or three nice to haves to get something out the door. Everything built from the GM Command and GM Sniper on matches the RX-78 in performance aside from the armor.

Post-WWII US military fixed wing aviation has been more or less exclusively officers, so it’s a dumbass 23 year old in the F-35 now. Helicopters it’s kinda similar but less sexy so non-coms and warrant officers get to do it too.

Meowgue @meowgue.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
Most American pilots in both world wars were pretty much some draftee with perfect vision who did good enough on their first time in the cockpit to continue on. So yeah usually teens to early twenties with a bunch of notable pre-war pilots trending much older.

Meowgue @meowgue.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
Honestly the White Base being that effective is frankly a Zeon problem, because they just kept feeding them aces and Zabis. But yeah the OYW running 363 days and introducing all that is downright absurd even if the Federation is only introducing the Jim in 0079, before the side stories went nuts.

Yeah probably best to throw the contract at them, and get Philly doing some Aloha-class or other ConRo derivative repair ships to ease them into auxiliaries if they haven’t done it recently.
030
Meowgue @meowgue.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
A bunch of these could reasonably be done on a COTS hull, since both Philly and NASSCO have been building decently sized freighters recently, and the Aloha class are 23kt ships already. Could be pretty fast and cheap. Tbh a Destroyer Tender should probably be an AS(X) derivative.

Genuinely, define "important." Because what I see is an account that postures as a #resistance "coalition" while blatantly plagiarizing real journalists, lying about having inside information about current events, and spreading paranoia through nonsense "codes." Avoid AltNPS at all costs.

With frankly amazing comic timing as well. Like there was no way they were going to successfully Horst Wessel a guy who died like that, even before they turned it into a circus.

HT Maize doesn’t actually out produce hybrids iirc it just drives some bad practices. It’s not like BT maize that actually does reduce the amount of pesticide you’d apply to a field.

Meowgue @meowgue.bsky.social · 07/09/2026
If it’s just HT Corn and Glyphosate that’s probably fine. Glyphosate is incredible stuff and you use it with HT crops specifically because you can kill everything else in the field but the crop’s fine. Unfortunately it’s probably carcinogenic.

Then either give people cash or crater the value of used cars instead of subsidizing demand with a cack-handed scheme to subsidize buy here-pay here dealers.

Two, my maternal grandmother spent some time on a farm that didn’t have it, but it’s three or four everywhere else. When I was teaching a couple years ago I had students who didn’t have it, more from the parents being hippies and neglectful pieces of shit than anything inherent to Rural Hawai’i.

Honestly I think it clearing 70k depends on the price of gas and if dealers are going to steer buyers to or away from the Maverick. I expect I’ll see a bunch of them around but HI also has a weird market vs the mainland.

Given that Sentras and Kicks still sell and Stellantis is still in business I don’t think the average American cares that much about quality.

Okay so what do I do if a Corolla is too big?
000
Meowgue @meowgue.bsky.social · 01/09/2026
Ah yes, I see you have confused a 2026 Corolla with a 1996 Geo Metro, a common error. A Corolla is gonna be interchangeable with anything else that size, about the same price, and aside from the Elantra N being cheaper than a GR, basically all the same outside really long term durability.

Hasn’t been true in like a decade. Modern automatics are tied into the ECU and work as a single unit with the engine. A manual can’t do that and is going to shift slower and less precisely than a Dual-clutch. They are way more reliable than a JATCO CVT though, so it is the option to get on a Nissan.
