Yokohama Shopping Log (1998) (Takashi Annō) 4/5. The feelings injected into this really were nice, especially with the artstyle. Very calming.

I love how, even though we don't actually see that much direct stuff from Miho or Beniko you can still tell how much is behind each character. Especially with the interviews with Shibahara, the VA.

The anime-original Urusei Yatsura episodes are great because they will just randomly have Mrs. Moroboshi going through a Twilight Zone episode.

The social reproduction of masculinity is one of the most interesting parts of Key's story and theming I feel.

The metaphorical framing of this guy as an incestuous patriarch in regards to the robots created was always very interesting to me.

Thank you! Was definitely a step up in difficulty compared to the snap-fit builds I have done previously, but I feel like it went well!

Still have more painting and cleaning up to do, especially with the accessories, but it’s fully assembled!

Victory Gundam (1991) (Yoshiyuki Tomino) 5/5. The ever present focus on entrusting children with the future really does shine through well in this one.

The Five Star Stories (Mamoru Nagano) (1986-) (Incomplete, up to volume 10) 5/5. Crazy that this exists. The style and presentation coming together with Nagano's unique method of storytelling really produces something monumental.

MAD ANGLER PRESS @retroanimechris.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
After a years long search for a copy, Mad Angler Press would like to formally introduce a 4K/HD scan of GUNSIGHT Phase 0, a text that is a cornerstone as to how we understand Mobile Suit Gundam's lore today. To view the text, please visit below:
The front cover of GUNSIGHT - Phase 0, illustrated by a young Haruhiko Mikimoto, in 1979. Gunsight served as the bedrock for understanding lore about 0079's universe and Mobile Suit Gundam and was released during Comiket 13. The text served as the basis for canonizing said lore for Gundam Century, was read actively by Studio II and Sunrise staff, praised by Yoshiyuki Tomino and Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, and has become indefinitely rare to acquire.

Scanned and uploaded for the first time in history by Mad Angler Press and Chris de la Bigne, for insight into your future.

Yeah it is funny to imagine how unpractical an actual 1/144 would be of it. The F91 is 15 meters too so it would be around that size.

Uso really has just been in a freudian torture nexus this entire show.

Also, I know that it’s just kind of how they advertise it and an actual one to that scale would absolutely not be practical, but this is definitely not 1:144. It honestly measures up pretty well as a 1:100. I wonder what the actual scale of the 1:100s is then.

Arms & shoulders done. Did have to disassemble a bit first to get the right leverage for getting them on, but that is the model basically assembled once the cement cures. Will stop here for a couple days until I can get the right paints.

Armor skirt done. I’ve said it before, but I love how much Nagano focuses on the division between the internal skeleton and the plating

Legs and hips assembled. Had one or two mishaps, but I would say the kit is going pretty well for the step up in difficulty compared to ones I have made before.

Finished with the head, but did forget to get some green paint for the eyes so not gluing the face on yet, just holding it in place. Also will need a few more coats for the top capsule.

Jubei-chan 2: Counterattack of the Siberia Yangu (2004) (Akitaro Daichi) 4/5. Slightly less put together than the first, but still really loved it. The focus on legitimacy and fakes was an interesting direction to take that I think served it well.
