I am doing what I’m calling a sock marathon, where I’m knitting basic socks for everyone in my family. And taking the occasional break as I work on a Mystery Knit-a-long where I don’t know the finished look.

And more or less done with the cuff of sock number 8 (out of 16 socks/8 pairs). That still leaves like 80+% of the sock left, but the fact I can knit up the cuff in like 12 hours or less (with breaks) makes me happy.

I know I'm focusing on only one of the nations in Alaska, but it's also because they're the ones that were the ghosts haunting that trip. They're real people, they're still there, and many perform their culture for tourists, but there was that one hole there.

From Hoonah and Ketchikan, I got glimpses of Tlingit culture in the stories I heard. From the trip to and from the nature hike in the former, and going to one of the Totem Pole parks in the latter.

One thing you learn very quickly is that the area the cruises go to has a very vibrant Indigenous history, namely one of the groups mentioned in that post, the Tlingit. But you know how many of my guides were people from Alaska? One, maybe two, and neither were Tlingit. Both white.

Section 2 of Clue 1 done. Now back to sock. I can start the next section after I finish the cuff, and do one more section after the leg, then the heel+heel turn, then a couple over the gusset and foot, then toe, then section 3 gets to complete itself.

Finished the first of two socks for BIL (one pair). That means... brain break by knitting the Color Kaleidoscope. I made my dad laugh cuz I said 2 color brioche is easier than 1 color brioche (It is. It's basically just mosaic knitting.)

Ah, yes, it's CR that's covering MKR's reboot. And it's premium only. I love the original. I call it my true gateway drug of Anime cuz it's the first I had to actively seek out instead of was just my weekday afternoon stuff. But I am not paying to watch the reboot.

Me calling it run of the mill system power fantasy is a bit wrong. I do sense some very clear subversion/deconstruction here and there of the genre (from as early as making Wisdom a hidden stat), but it really gets lost in the dudebro parts of the setting.

I have a slap bracelet ruler. It's for socks, mostly, but it can be for other things. (One side marks where you start decreases for US shoe sizes, the other is a traditional ruler) I annoyed my cat with it by turning it into a round thing then tossing it like a toy, which he chased.

Each of these little bits is 100-something stitches, so I need at least two rounds done on the sock per, and I would prefer to do the sock, so more like 10 before I reach for the vibrant yarn. (Which also means an inch done cuz it’s like 8-10 rounds per inch.

2-color brioche is just mosaic knitting. You do one color and then the next. It’s a rhythm of one row of each instead of two, but it works the same way.

I find it ironic when people tell others to use AI or get left behind, because clearly Gen-AI wouldn't be a thing if it weren't for the works of human-made art & literature. So if you do use Gen-AI & you only use that, then you're the one who's left behind when it comes to skills & creativity.

She's a void, I've known that about voids. My sister's is the same. I have a little cow cat, and he apparently found a tiny hole by the dishwasher he can fit in. I'm guessing it's meant to be there for servicing things, but still, spooky boy, stick to hiding under the bed. I was so worried.
