I thought I might one day have to turn on moderated comments on my AO3 fics because people might say hurtful things. I actually had to turn on moderated comments on my AO3 fics because the majority of the comments I get are AI bot scammers. I hate this.

Day 4: Mummy

I shift my weight in my seat, surreptitiously pressing my thighs together against the heat pooling low in my belly. The idle graze of warm fingertips drifting down my arm or wrapping around my waist mixed with the heady scents of my wolf on one side of me and my dragon on the other is not helping.

The evening had started innocently enough…

Day 03 - Candle

It was mid-October. The setting sun bathed the city of Linkon in fading streaks of burning gold, and instead of sitting in on the quarterly shareholder meeting, the Chairman of EonCore Tech was acting as an errand-boy. Business would be fine; his sister, Valerie, would lead the discussion in his stead. She was highly capable in her role as Vice-Chairman, though in reality she was more of a co-chairman. Together, the Ao siblings were a fantastic team.

That doesn't stop her from giving him grief about leaving the responsibility in her lap this time.

"She must be quite the lady if you're ditching the shareholder meeting to play fetch for her, Ko-coa," she groused over the speaker in his car.

Her usage of his childhood nickname—given to him as a toddler after he'd sneaked into the kitchen pantry, eaten an entire canister of cocoa powder, and made himself sick—softens the barb into run-of-the-mill sibling-banter.

Day 02 - Pumpkin Patch

For years, the little farm on the far side of Lunabell Vale had been Valko's playground. His private sanctuary.

The fields backed right up to the woods; he could run, fish, hunt, read—whatever he pleased. Sure, it was overgrown and needed some tending but he liked it like that. Wolf, human, or something in between—he had the freedom to be anything he wanted within those grounds.

Until now.

Friendly reminder to download your photos to local and back up and journals just in case the game bugs again with the new version update. I lost 7 months of photos and all my journals when the update bugged in July and I was forced to repair the installation.

Screenshot of the in-game photo album from #LoveAndDeepspace. Every image thumbnail has a checkmark indicating it has been selected. A hand-drawn purple arrow points to the Select All option in the bottom left, which is checked, and a hand-drawn purple circle highlights the Local button used to download all those images to the local device, saving them in case something corrupts the app.

Screenshot of the local download progress. "Downloading photos to your device. Do not leave this screen." A gray circle is slowly drawn over in red, approximately two-thirds complete. 376/585 indicates 376 out of 585 images have been backed up locally.

Screenshot of the info pop-up for Journals in Love and Deepspace. An arrow points to a specific section about local journals. "You can use the temporary backup feature on the login screen to backup local journals and import them into the Library on other devices, allowing you to sync them across devices"

A section towards the bottom of the screenshot is titled Library. An arrow also points to this section: "In the Library you can preview covers, sort, and delete your journals in bulk. You can also import journals backed up via the temporary backup feature."

Oh and I'm not kidding about the hand-painted part--this jacket was entirely white to begin with:

A puffy, white windbreaker hangs on a dressform. One side of the jacket is untouched. The other has painter's tape blocking the trim from the spread of yellow paint. The white, rectangular flap of the pocket has been folded into a triangle and awaits a coating of a lighter shade of yellow paint. None of the aquamarine trim from the final cosplay has been applied to this jacket at the time this photo was snapped.

Melodic poses similarly to the Sphene in Winterleigh's artwork with hand-painted white shoes with yellow soles, white knit legwarmers painted yellow at the tops with a thin aquamarine stripe near the bottom, denim shorts with the hem cuffed, a white belt with a hand-painted gold buckle, black leggings and a black turtleneck compression top, a white puffy windbreaker that has been hand-painted yellow with aquamarine trim, and a white bucket hat with the interior hand-painted yellow and the crown of Alexandria pattern hand-painted in aquamarine on the front. Instead of the brown satchel from the individual art, she wears a Namazu itabag filled with FFXIV fish and G'raha charms slung across her body.

I know #WIPWednesday is technically tomorrow, but I'm giving myself whiplash that these two bits are in the same damn chapter so I'm dropping them here today. I'll still probably be working on it again tomorrow--my chapters have gotten a lot longer on average. #LoveAndDeepspace #MinDrage

My vision is a haze of red.

Mindless fear and fury drive me as my impossibly fast heartbeat in my ears drowns out everything else.

A coppery taste fills my mouth, spurring me on in my primal need to eliminate these threats to my home, my mate, and my unborn young. To rip and tear and shred, ensuring that they never come back.

Luke, pale and sweating, blocks my path staring at me with resolve and…fear?

Glass crackles under my feet; my gaze follows the sound—shattered fragments of my beloved dragon's face reflect back at me from the broken shards, his wild eyes widening in horror in tandem with mine at the thick blood smeared across his face, soaking into his clothes. I look down at my shaking hands—these are not my hands—sticky and coated in fading crimson.

I scream.

"Kitten?"

He turns and dashes towards the entrance of the alley, the stops just short of the road. "Oh! And tell your papa 'thank you' too! Bye!" He waves once more and runs off.

Bewildered, I unfold the paper in my hands. A large children's drawing, scrawled in crayon shows a little boy smiling while holding hands with two identical hooded figures in crow-masks. A taller figure with fluffy white hair and red eyes stands proudly with one foot raised and planted atop a pile of people with their eyes X-ed out labeled 'bad guys'. Something that sort-of looks like a red-eyed crow perches on the Sylus-doodle's shoulder. It's all very cute, but it's the message scrawled across the top in huge letters that fills my eyes with tears:

Thank You for Saving Me
Only Kindness!

"Aw man, that kid still got the name wrong!" Luke grumbles. "How hard is it to spell 'Onychinus' anyway?"

I represented ArtsyBirb in a cosplay collab for Rafayel's birthday yesterday! I also love the in game birthday plushie--see how Sylus is already having to adapt to sharing bed space with them (just like my IRL partner LMAO) #LoveAndDeepspace

A selfie photo of the real-life Melodic in cosplay. A pale woman with dark hair pulled back into a bun and large brown eyes framed by rainbow glasses poses in front of a white background. Her red beret, blue and white striped neckerchief, sunny yellow dress with a green splotch of paint made out of a sheet of craft foam on the skirt, along with the paintbrush in her hand and the large red circles of craft foam made to look like cartoonish blush spots on her cheeks are reminiscent of the yellow bird plushie, ArtsyBirb, associated with Rafayel in Love and Deepspace.

A screenshot from the Home sim function of Love and Deepspace showing Sylus, one of the love interests, sleeping on his side in the bed. In the foreground, towards the center of the bed, is a seated plushie of Rafayel, the purple haired artist love interest. The plushie is poorly lit, but wears the Professor Rafayel outfit, holds a magic seashell wand in one hand and a paint palette in the other, has wings on his back, a fish shaped pastry in his mouth, and cat ears atop his head.

Before he can finish the thought, his body is already in motion, sprinting towards Mephisto's panicked cries. Sylus bursts through the double doors to their suite, pausing a moment to scan the room.

"CAW!"

The bathroom.

His head whips to the left, and he freezes in horror. Through the open door, a ghostly white hand rests motionless in stark contrast to the charcoal gray tiles of the floor. Mephisto stops his shrieking to nibble at the fingertips; not hard, just exploratory and affectionate. Usually when he does this, she'd smile and give him scritches along his breastbone.

Nothing. Her fingers are colorless, unresponsive.

The bird begins to keen.

This Should Have Been a Long-Fic AKA Alternate Rune with an Emotionally Intuitive MC Universe

Creator: MelodicBlue
Series Begun: 2025-08-11
Series Updated: 2026-02-19
Description:
A collection of MC/Sylus fics all written in the same timeline that, in retrospect, probably should have just been made as one long-fic. But my brain didn't work that way, so I'll continue filling in the timeline with their past/relationship building and their future. Some of the fics were also created as their own entities to make it easier for readers to manage their own content-warning needs (e.g. "Rain (A Min Drage Interlude)". Sometimes canonical events are left as-is in the timeline, other times they go through significant transformations & evolutions (e.g. No-Defense Zone - Alternate Run; pending an updated title).

Melodic jots notes down about Cosmic Exploration on a handheld notepad while mammets and loporrits (including Namingway) pose alongside her, celebrating a milestone of progress.

I *knew* it! So historically, a #RedAlert can cancel/skip a Mech Ops, but an Upgrade FATE can cancel/skip a Red Alert. After some significant emotional upsets (to put it mildly) this weekend that I'm not getting into here, I decided to take solace in this week's #SixSentenceSaturday prompt by writing a little note from my MC to Sylus as she prepares to leave for work. #LoveAndDeepspace

I never thought I'd see the day when I could slip out of bed without waking you. Has the big, bad boss-man of Onychinus gone soft and let his guard down?

It's funny; I've been late to work so many times--you'd catch me and pull me back into your embrace under the covers.

But today? You're out-cold, curled protectively around my pillow as if its your greatest treasure, oblivious to my imminent departure.

For once, there's nothing stopping me and yet, I have never found it more impossible to leave.

Sylus, dressed in the white and silver version of his space uniform as Khaosi's Sovereign turns his kiss-stained face towards the camera as he embraces Melodic's MC, the pale-skinned empress of the Cosmic Empire. She wears a dark, elegant sleeveless Philosian dress and her long, purple hair falls into a loose braid. She leans into Sylus' embrace, cupping his jaw with a white-gloved hand and glances over her shoulder past the camera. The two are posed dramatically against an outer space background.

If you're like me and have been wondering why Sylus keeps going back to the shower in your villa and burning through any body wash bottles you've shared with him...I suspect this is the reason: (from "Night of Secrecy") #LoveAndDeepspace #LaDS #Sylus

Close up of Sylus from Love and Deepspace leaning in towards the viewer. A text box for his dialogue reads: I used up all of your body wash, by the way.

Valid...I don't have Silent Poem, so I'm usually in Sylus territory and I actually use Secret Times as a sleep aid (helps drown out the passing trains). Honestly, I should be more worried about what next year's will look like now that we have the Illusio Locus set; this is tame by comparison:

A summary page from Love and Deepspace reporting that I spent 271 hours in Secret Times, that Sylus' Bloodnight Drift is my favorite, and I've listened to it 83 times.

Thank you so much for hosting and organizing this, @kylenne.etheirys.social ! A lovely party as well as a successful and delightful run at Orbonne Monastery! (And bless the healers in my Alliance who helped ensure I only died once!) #RoyalStarlightAP

Keepers and Seekers agreeing on the mutual delights of mulled Lominsan punch and fishing! With @disesteem.bsky.social 💜 #RoyalStarlightAP

Melodic, the purple-haired, purple-eyed Keeper of the Moon Miqo'te is dressed in dark bluish-green velvet robes trimmed in gold with little gold and silver star accents and crowned in a wreath of golden leaves. A staff resembling a giant candelabra rests on her back. Next to her is D'zinhla Rhee, a Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te with chin-length blonde hair and bright green eyes, dressed in pastel purple winter gear with white fur trim. A fascinator made of a cluster of small, white flowers is clipped into the left side of her hair, matching the white rims of her half-rimmed spectacles. The two miqo'te smile at each other as they enjoy hot, festive beverages in Lominsan-themed mugs.

#LoveAndDeepspace I'm reminded of that time I shamelessly wrote XIV into my No-Defense Zone fic:

A snippet of text from Ellipsus:

Luke casually tries a different line of inquiry. "Are you coming back to the base tonight, boss? There's a new PvP map dropping in Last Story XIV…"

Sylus actually cracks a small, genuine smile. "My business will keep me here for another day or so, but—in the meantime, why don't you two do some recon on this new map and the strategies we can expect to face? Just don't forget about your actual patrols and work in the N109 zone."

"You got it, boss!" The boys chorus excitedly. Luke and Kieran give their own chaotic semblance of a salute, then start walking back to their bike and sidecar.

I haven't used the tag; however, if I'm understanding it correctly, I definitely enjoy writing fluff scenes as part of my stories. I have a WIP that is entirely fluff, but most times fluff in my stories is a comfort-bridge between more serious things while also growing the relationship in soft ways.

Snippet from "No Defense Zone Alternate Run" fanfic on Ellipsus:

I yawn again; it's getting difficult to keep my eyes open. "Sylus?"

"Hmm?"

"Do you want us to be enemies?" The words come out a little mumbled, but he seems to understand it anyway.

"No, Sweetie. I don't."

I look down at my hands to hide the smile that spreads across my face at his response. "Oh. Good."

___

After a moment, Sylus asks, "What about you, Kitten? Do you want us to be enemies?". But there's no reply. "Kitten?" He strokes her cheek gently with his thumb.

She murmurs something unintelligible, and nuzzles her cheek against his chest, tucking her knees in closer to his side before sighing into stillness only broken by soft, even breathing.

He chuckles softly. "Let's put you to bed, Kitten." He starts to shift her in his arms, but she frowns in her sleep, rolling to her side and curling all the more tightly around him, taking up more of his lap. He settles back into his seat with a sigh. "You really are a kitten, aren't you. And I just fell into your trap." Resigning himself to his fate, he leans his head against the back of the sofa and closes his eyes.

Oh...oh no. I didn't realize quite how much Sylus has taken over my feed here. Poor G'raha needs more love in my feed. 😅

And we go straight from the math equations floating above the head gif experience into the impulse/geologist approach. I shared that particular snippet and received this doodle of my MC being a chaos kitten in reply 🤣 #LoveAndDeepspace

Comical doodle of a purple-haired girl (representing the Main Character for Love and Deepspace) with cat ears staring wide-eyed at the camera with her tongue stuck out, about to lick the Sapphire Protocore held between her thumb and forefinger.

I emulate the first person present perspective from the game, and include active inner monologue in italics. I wouldn't say this is my best, but it's certainly one of the silliest examples of my neurodivergent MC after learning that Sylus eats protocores. #LoveAndDeepspace

I shrug to myself and start considering ways one could hypothetically 'prepare' a protocore—They're similar in appearance to gemstones and rock candy; maybe I could use a double-boiler to reduce them into a syrup? Though the simplest approach would be to crush it down and treat it as a seasoning or supplement on an existing dish. Some of them crumble quite easily—is it like eating a well-toasted crouton? What does a protocore even taste like? Do the different colors also indicate different flavors? How does the protocurve impact the taste of a protocore—my eyes widen as the wildest thought yet leaps to forefront of my mind: Is his research on modifying protocores actually some unprecedented form of molecular gastronomy, but everyone just assumes it's weapons??

I shake my head to try and slow the avalanche of questions that continue to tumble forth in my mind, all without answers. Well, maybe not all. There was one question I could resolve here and now. Slowly, I pick up the blue protocore between my thumb and forefinger, raising it to my nose. A few sniffs doesn't really tell me much; it's like sniffing a gemstone. There's hardly any scent at all. I guess there's only one way to find out. I swallow hard and bring the protocore to my lips, my tongue cautiously extending—

I still have *some* of my VHS tapes (and a VCR to play them on), as well as a ton of DVDs (the DVDs are not pictured here).

Photo of a narrow wire bookshelf holding at least 4 shelves worth of anime VHS tapes, from Cowboy Bebop the Movie, a number of the Dragonball Z and Sailor Moon movies, multiple Dragonball Z sagas from the TV show, Princess Mononoke, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and the original Ranma 1/2. Behind the shelf, hanging on the wall is an old Final Fantasy X wall scroll.
