Started Mina the Hollower, love the vibe and overall gameplay loop. Very fun yet it kicks my ass for sure. This game leaves an awesome first impression. Though, me yelling at this game would have you believe otherwise lol. My thumb is tired cuz I was locked in.

...like I'm not gonna grandstand and ignore the leaps and bounds 3D sonic fan works have gotten in the last 7ish years, with some of the best displays of understanding engaging level design and game feel in the franchise (I do not like Robo Blast 2), but the camera is the last element needing focus.

this is yoinked directly from a longtime conversation topic between @mellowmarzart.bsky.social and I, but I wonder what the tally is of 3D sonic fangames that have an actual focus on unique camera angles (esp going thru loops) and the spectacle around it in sonic games vs "camera glued to your back"

Recent(ish) design sheets I've done for the Sonic comics. Some text on Blackwood and Dapple's pages was removed as it referenced an earlier version of the story and was no longer accurate. Soleil/Lunar's sheet was done before the difference between them was fully figured out, thus the single name

Model sheet for Soleil and Lunar the sugar glider

Umoupen is interesting but a bit unintuitive. I feel like I'm fighting the problem to create something simple at times. Had some issues with the navigator that I was told worked differently than what I'm used to in other programs. That's fine but I'm currently just not a fan of it right now.

A MAJOR aspect to UPA inspired styles is off-register coloring. When mimicking the UPA backgrounds, DO NOT fill in the outlines properly.

I gotta say, this is such an annoying ass requirement to get my money. It's legit so damn inconvenient and makes me just want to drop the platform all together and make/ship my own prints personally. So fuck it, that's exactly what I'm gonna do cuz I can't with INPRNT anymore.

You ever think about Tangle Jojo posing? I do

An idea of Tangle teaming up with Cream and getting her own chao. Pointing the chao to attack would look a Jojo homage in my head. She's just goofy enough that it would fit so well.

Illustration of Filia from Skullgirls lost and wondering aimlessly in the rain standing on a huge puddle that shows a reflection of her past self silhouetted against the full moon, and has Samson's past host framing the scene. This was created in collaboration with EightySixed.

Illustration of all the characters in the phantom rider arc of Sonic IDW. With sonic on the left and the rest of the characters drawn within the hardlight hexagons in the scarf on the right.

Illustration of Sonic and Tails on the Tornado 3 from sonic Unleashed flying at high speeds skimming the water while avoiding the egg robots surrounding the two. Tails is flying the tornado with confidence, while Sonic is hanging on to the back handles with a nervous expression hoping not to fall in the water below.

Illustration of Squigly from Skullgirls standing center stage framed by skulls and the antagonist Lorenzo, Black Dahlia, Double, and her reanimated father Roberto that caused her to become a zombie. With her mother, Selene Contiello is the Skullgirl that is framing the image.

There are moments where I consider if leaving twitter has limited outreach for work. I freaking hate twitter yet I do feel there are times that would have benefited since I don't want every post here I make to be e-begging. Finding work is hard. I'm not going back to twitter tho. It smells.

Drawing buildings is tough sometimes for me cuz I gotta remember to make these damn blocks interesting enough visually, yet not go too overboard with the amount of buildings on display. The biggest issue I have with environmental stuff is conveying the scale properly. I'm never satisfied 🥲

One of the things I appreciate about the art direction on Knights of Guinevere is the influence of Atompunk/Space Age elements weaved into the costuming for the background characters. More specifically the Security Guards, they remind me of this pulp sci fi cover art by Ron Turner. The helmet.

Lastly, I'll touch on this very subtle thing. These swirl like textures are a common thing in SG that I don't folks notice too much, but it actually sells so much of the atmosphere of SG that I would advise using if you ever want to sell the mood just right. it's subtle yet goes a long way.

So here's an inspiration that didn't follow the dark deco vibe at all, but it proved useful to help me draw puddles and ripples. When I ran across this Hat in Time Volume 2 album cover I went "THAT'S IT!" it helped a lot cuz water is my weakness. I'll learn though.

I think adding Blonde Filia and Delilah as representations of each Filia and Samson's past was a really good choice. it's not too in your face but too subtle either. It feels just right for both characters. The skullheart's face looming over felt good too.
