It’ll still be very den-like compared to the average living room, for example. Tighter quarters can help with potty training if the whole space is only enough for a bed, but I think most dogs would prefer some extra space otherwise. You could also drape a blanket over top to make it feel more cozy.

If you have space for it, too big would give him some extra wiggle room so it couldn’t hurt. Is there a size in between? 42” is XL in a lot of brands. (And yes, so much work… we have to take breaks in between 😅)
