This wedge tornado I photographed by Essex, IA on 4/17/25 was 1.8 mi wide at it's max & rated EF-1 by the NWS. Thankfully there were no injuries. I am in shock I was there to document this historic event! #tornado #Iowa @nws.noaa.gov @girlswhochase.com

This wedge tornado was a powerful EF-4! The associated horizontal vortex is a sign of it's strength, and rare to see. Luckily this tornado stayed in the fields and lifted before the storm moved over the town of Salina, KS. 4/14/12 #weather #tornado @girlswhochase.com

A late season "transitional" trough is racing across the plains, and should produce some tornadoes tomorrow. But they aren't likely to be this kind - well structured, surrounded by dry air, slow moving, and easy to see. Can't wait for more of these.
