In spring 2022, some bank did in fact put out an analyst note to that effect. It read, quite literally, "we put the risk of nuclear war at 10%. Stocks should do well." (Quoting from memory, but that really was the language they used, including the 10%!)

It is for this reason that i fundamentally do not understand the hostility of leftists like @malteengeler.de to AI: it is the only plausible mechanism by which the classical Marxist objective of a wealthy, technologically-dynamic industrial society based on a non-market economy might be realised.

Fascinating FT piece: will aI solve the socialist calculation debate? As Tony Annett pointed out over at the other place, that would genuinely change *everything*. A planned, non-market economy might suddenly become the more efficient social system. www.ft.com/content/cd3f...

In DE, nun ja...

People frothing about #Atlantic piece on(mad) performative #woke at #Bates wld do well to reflect on fact that as a social movement,"woke" has been total failure: - no major material/political wins - deeply divided the left - united the right - badly annoyed normies - distracted from material fights

For reasons of #dataprotection, the Berlin Police cannot share a picture of the prime suspect in the #CSD #terror attack on social media. #dataprotection advocates frequently claim that data protection is critical to ensure civic trust in state & institutions. How well is that theory working out?
