I mean, more power to them because I’m sure they got a ton of money for it & they deserve it. It just caught me off guard.

My exact words were something like “I’m sorry, but do YOU have the disease that you watched disable & kill your own dad? Do YOU rely on this treatment to walk, see, & think?” And yeah. She raised her voice & scolded me like I was the problem. Thanks, comically-named Novartis Patient Access. 🙄

In my daily life, I’m patient & accommodating almost to a fault. But the number of reps from insurance & insurance-adjacent companies I’ve yelled at and/or hung up on is probably in the triple digits at this point. I even upset one to the point that SHE yelled at ME.

I think a lot of men who have sexually assaulted women don’t even recognize it as such. They are so oblivious to what constitutes sexual assault because of those structural systems they’ve grown up in. R*pe often doesn’t look anything like what so many people think it does!

There’s this misconception among men that the only guys who would do something as heinous as what the Cornell frat brothers did are overtly monstrous in their daily lives. Most of the time, though, they’re not. They’re your friends, brothers, neighbors, & classmates. Hold each other accountable.

I have had this conversation with every man I’m close friends with: sure you’ve talked to your daughter about how to keep herself safe, but have you explicitly taught your son to understand the nuances of consent? The answer is almost always “no, I never thought of doing that.”

Two theories regarding the kid I’m concerned about: 1.) Because he’s attended several different school districts, he has never been in the same one long enough for it to be caught. 2.) Because he has another diagnosis that causes some academic struggles, it may be masking concurrent dyslexia.

You’d be surprised how many parents refuse to get their kids tested for all kinds of things from ADHD to autism to yes, dyslexia. They usually are in denial or don’t want a negative stigma attached to their kid. It’s so frustrating because help IS available..

God I hope this is how it goes tomorrow, because I seriously want this kid to get help!
