Indian national Nikhil Gupta, 54, pleaded guilty in federal court to plotting a murder-for-hire in New York targeting a U.S. citizen and Sikh separatist advocate, prosecutors said. Authorities allege he acted at the direction of an Indian government employee and arranged a $100,000 hit. The plot, they say, was foiled by the DEA and FBI. Indian national Nikhil Gupta has pleaded guilty to plotting to assassinate a U.S. citizen in NYC, according to statements today by the FBI and US Attorney's office in New York.

“At the direction and coordination of an Indian government employee, Nikhil Gupta plotted to assassinate a United States citizen on American soil, facilitating a foreign adversary’s unlawful effort to silence a vocal critic of the Indian government,” said FBI Assistant Director in Charge James C. 🚨 NEW INVESTIGATION: Mutual fund and 401(k) holders have over $1 billion invested in ICE detention companies — and many don't even realize it

💵 The 401(k) retirement funds and mutual funds of ordinary Americans are invested in immigration detention centers and private prisons with a lengthy track record of human rights violations, without many of the account holders even realizing it.

💰Mutual funds and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) own shares worth over a billion dollars in market value in GEO Group and CoreCivic, two companies that operate the highest number of ICE detention centers.

🏛️The Trump administration’s immigration enforcement crackdown is funneling millions in taxpayer money to these for-profit companies running ICE detention centers. Advocates and experts are sounding alarm bells over how ordinary Americans are invested in these corporations, often without any awareness.

🚨NEW: NYC-DSA’s Electoral Working Group narrowly voted Saturday against recommending an endorsement for City Council Member Chi Ossé’s expected primary challenge to House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, NY City & State reported.

About 52% of participating members opposed backing the campaign. The vote follows a push from Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, who urged DSA to focus on his affordability agenda for the city instead of an uphill primary challenge.

Ossé responded on X, saying “NYC DSA FOREVER ❤️ I’M NOT GOING ANYWHERE.” While an endorsement remains technically possible through separate branch and citywide votes, the report says it is now considered unlikely. Peter Sterne
