People understand that paying taxes means supporting quality healthcare, education, transportation & energy infrastructure, right? right…? right……? And that arbitrarily cutting taxes to appease a short term political gotcha moment, ultimately undermines collective public good & stability……right…..?

Cross boarder worker solidarity is a very powerful move right now. What does it look like to support labour in this moment rather than pitting workers against each other? Unity over division is where power lies for the public to uphold public well-being.

In times when those in power wielded their power to abuse and oppress, that is when it is critical for collective commitment to resistance and care-based solidarities. Commit to care, dignity, kindness and equitable investments in shared public goods. This is important work we can do together.

I dreamt of a metallic blue stag beetle last night. I had lost them, and then I found them again when they fell from some cloth. They were miffed at me for losing them. So now I’m painting a blue stag beetle.
Hand drawn, blue stag beetle with mushrooms, growing out from its sides. The stag beetle is painted in shades of blue with watercolour.

Organizing can look like a lot of things. Care, solidarity, mutual aid, knowing rights, building community relationships, coordinating and sharing resources, leveraging privilege to protect others, engaging art….
Abstract, drawing by Meghan Wise of a Chantelle mushroom growing out of pebble looking rocks in the colours of green purple blue. There is a small mouse and a small beetle on either side of the mushroom with roots and leaves spreading out and around the outside of the image as a border.

Seeing reports that Tahlequah (J35), is again carrying a deceased calf. I painted this in 2018 after she carried the body of her little one for 17 days. Grief is a personal and difficult journey that many species navigate.
A painting in blues, greens and whites with colourful tendrils of sea plants. There are three black and white orcas. The middle of the image is a large mother orca with houses on her back and two tendrils of seaweed coming up to her belling from below. At the right side is a small baby orca on the mother’s back. In the upper left is an orca breaching from the ocean.

I’m working on a series of systems & complexity thinking drawings for a project. This is a messy, disjointed iteration as I explore pathways for understanding & visualization. #systemsthinking #climatechange #complexitythinking
A drawn overview of systems thinking that uses imagery such as a sea turtle with houses on its back, red and white smoke stacks, pictures of billionaires, a logging truck and lungs to represent different aspects of systems surrounding the imagery are coloured backgrounds in purples and greens and pinks and oranges and yellows. Black and red arrows show interconnections between different elements and words such as interconnectedness, relationships, feedback loops are highlighted along the Arrow lines.
