From Megan’s family: Megan has been holding back the progression of terminal cancer for the last two years. It’s with a heavy heart that I share that she is now in hospice with her family at her side during her final days. She leaves behind two sons. gofund.me/a7b6dda99

If you didn't win #RevPit but still want to work with an editor on your manuscript, the cool thing about hiring a RevPit editor is that you know they've been vetted by the board. I had to do a sample developmental edit and query critique, which they evaluated, before becoming a RevPit editor. 1/5

I've seen a few subposts today that tell me this needs saying: #RevPit isn’t a contest that rewards the “best” book. It’s one opportunity, shaped by timing, taste, and editorial capacity. Not a judgment on your future in publishing.

Now, let's do some real talk #RevPit. There is NO shame in not winning. There were SO MANY amazing books subbed. If you knew how many the editors agonized over, you'd be shocked. Not winning isn't a reflection on you or your manuscript. It just didn't work out this year.

One last #RevPit #10Queries from me! Lots of romance today—some are cross-genre, but I labeled R where the romance arc felt primary. ✨ Also, every editor does things differently, but I picked these at random. There were so many great ones I didn't get to!

P20 I'm intrigued. Feel like MC might have reached a decision a bit too quickly...do we need to slow slightly and let us know her a bit? Maybe. But I don't think it's enough to deter a reader from continuing. #revpit #10queries

130

Megan Records丨Editor @meganrecords.bsky.social · 11/04/2025

Q20 A F. Little confusing. Why is contest necessary when fiance exists? I'm also not quite clear on the escalation. Again, a good example of when having a outside eye can really help clear up small things for streamlined reading. #revpit #10queries

130

Megan Records丨Editor @meganrecords.bsky.social · 11/04/2025

P19 One word: hooked. Pages are def query ready. #revpit #10queries

130

Megan Records丨Editor @meganrecords.bsky.social · 11/04/2025

Q19 A R. Again, someone who knows their audience :] I'm a little worried the stakes aren't enough; or rather, I don't believe them? And I'm not sure I get why Antag is taking this big step--feels out of character, maybe. Might just be the condensed nature of a QL. #revpit #10queries

140

Megan Records丨Editor @meganrecords.bsky.social · 11/04/2025

P18. I think MC needs to make active choices for her arc, and we start with her putting faith in something else. Not my fav. Would rather this was her first step making choices. But we def have potential here. Writing is a bit awk but smooths out, so I know you have it in you. #revpit #10queries

130

Megan Records丨Editor @meganrecords.bsky.social · 11/04/2025

Q18 A R. Comped to one of my fav writers ever, so you have my attention and expectations :] Solid GOS, and I'm a sucker for this kind of plot. Don't underestimate the power of knowing your audience! Excited for pages. #revpit #10queries

150

Megan Records丨Editor @meganrecords.bsky.social · 11/04/2025

P17 Starts strong! Good worldbuilding, and we even end the 5 pgs with the goal *chef's kiss*. But I want a bit more about the MC. I feel like I'd be reading on just because of the world, not her, and that only gets us so far. #revpit #10queries

150

Megan Records丨Editor @meganrecords.bsky.social · 11/04/2025

Q17 YA F Many questions. Who is this entity that is the antag? Why do they need to hunt in this manner? Why is MC so certain? This is why it's good to have someone unfamiliar with the story read the query--to clear up things like this. Hard to know what others find confusing. #revpit #10queries

250

Megan Records丨Editor @meganrecords.bsky.social · 11/04/2025

P16 Love the writing style and we start exactly in the right place. But part of a scene feels too much like its inspiration--a hazard of this type of book. Have to find the balance between homage and imitating. That's me being very picky. Still want to keep reading. #revpit #10queries

150

Megan Records丨Editor @meganrecords.bsky.social · 11/04/2025
