The Canadian equivalent of the NIH should consider funding a bunch of studies monitoring what happens with vaccine-preventable diseases in Canada and the US over the next decade. Because a real-world laboratory is being created.

All 4 of my NIH research grants are terminated. These were grants on MDR-TB treatment & strategies for supporting adolescents living w/ HIV. This is a massive waste of resources. I am heartbroken for my Harvard team, my partners in Peru, the next generation of scientists & our country. Shame.

The amazing group of faculty that I lead on our research core lost six NIH grants today, all in global health. Thousands of hours of work lost as well as funding for our foreign collaborators in LMICs.

NIH continues to suspend funding to these schools — without telling them. Researchers have been submitting for renewals, which are approved by NIH program staff. But notices of award never go out. Columbia has internally been calling these awards "effectively cancelled", per email I've obtained.
