"There is no medical reason to eat sugar" and because I had a family history of Type II he forced me to agree with him before he'd hand over the ER discharge paperwork. I had eaten 8fl oz of full-sugar Jell-O before coming in, thinking the might-be-appendix pain was from not eating the day before.

When I was a freshman in high school, a new store opened near my house. Mom was there on opening day during the Beanie Baby frenzy and completely on impulse bought me a purple bear without processing what she had. As of this Christmas, Princess will have been my adventure companion for 28 years.

I really wish some of them would also be aimed explicitly at adults, though. Matrix-style planners would work great with my brain, but the companies that print them assume the user is too young for weekend responsibilities including religious (even when made for high schoolers, who aren't).

I find any 'support our troops' twist to July 4th ironic because it was the one day of the year my WW2 draftee grandfather's service was disrespected by even his wife. He got out with exactly ONE lasting traumatic symptom due to a food supply line collapse: hot dog aversion. 'But they're $1 today!'

It's almost 90° degrees. The AC meters are officially not running so the system is definitely down. We are barely keeping inside temps even with outside. I just had to check The Weather Channel's temp map to make sure I was in the same reality as the It's Nice In MA chorus in World Cup threads.

Reminder: in the religious group he grew up in, 'just keep trusting it'll be okay even if you don't see how', is just about as dire a statement as they're really allowed to say as an assessment of reality. Positive Thinking doesn't allow you to say things are not going to be okay.

He insisted on following Elements Of Style to the every single letter, whole defining 'writer' as requiring selection for publication by non-vanity editorial staff. Meaning a rubric for the entire dept that was half how to be graded down for having style or using much of the grammar curriculum.

Apparently I do like at least some romance tropes, they just have to be the right romance tropes. The final 3.5 books of a 4 book series in under 24 hours Thursday. I haven't had my reading stamina back since the pandemic started and all the marathons I've managed were rereads or near-rereads.

My one week review of the replacement for the Fitbit App: We bought premium when I was diagnosed with asthma because the overnight SpO2 numbers seemed like a good thing to have. Even without the AI, the new thing is worse than any third-party watch + app combo I've ever dealt with. Incl $10 ones.

Heat in the UK doesn't hit different. Humidity isn't exclusive to the UK nor are stone buildings (I live in one). The reason we get their complaints every summer is both because they refuse to invest in A/C including in public spaces & the heat waves come on fast allowing no acclimation /1

Fourth Grade: Couldn't watch Looney Tunes, might make me violent. Could watch F-Troop the next hour on the same channel. Couldn't get parental help re being bullied at school by teacher and all peers, which was the actual thing making me act out and warping my concept of social behavior norms.

Instead of Phantom Tollbooth (so I still haven't read Spouse's middle reader favorite) or How To Be Perfect Person, we had to read about the kids our age who drowned in Steerage.

This is why American-style detailed food labeling is important. I missed the cheese I'm sensitive to on a label and we ate it last night. (Can confirm I'm still sensitive to it without a psychological component.) We checked after. It's not in what our local grocery has. But this came from Aldi.

Another swimming pool survivor, luckily was facing the right way when I tripped and managed to touch bottom just before things went from serious to SERIOUS. (Lifeguards, do not the hell call Adult Swim and then blame a traumatized kid if they didn't make it all the way out before you turned away.)
