First day of #Windycon, and I’m about to see the 50th anniversary show by Moebius Theater! 😲

Nothing to see here...just the President of the United States inviting the country he illegally declared war on to "take out" 2 major American cities. If that's not treason, what is? 🤬 Law enforcement won't hold him accountable, but we WILL! The beginning of the end is on November 3rd. #VOTE-BLUE 🌊

clearly you were just sitting there. I don't know why it makes a difference that Jake Lang is a pedophile. I'm glad she pointed it out though, I might not have known Jake Lang was a pedophile if she hadn't told me. I just saw some friends hanging out

I still follow politics in my former home state of Kansas, and I see that “Colonel” Pat Proctor is up to his old tricks…

I quite enjoyed the Walnut Valley festival in Winfield, Kansas! But I noticed something that I’ve noticed in other venues: The audience was overwhelmingly white. Considering the roots of the music played there (which you might call acoustic Americana), it is odd.

Photographs tell a story of two mothers determined to help their babies gain enough weight to leave the hospital — only to face little to no food again.

Today the Senate votes on an AI provision tucked within a crypto bill that gives AI companies full impunity from consumer protection laws. These handouts to the AI industry directly harm the public yet rarely make headlines. Our letter pushing back here: t.co/a5QeS1coOO

I wonder if the folks outside the US who cry that “Americans aren’t doing anything” understand that there is no direct action that the people can take to remove a president.

Oh right 🫢 it was frankfurters that were renamed as liberty sausage.

110

MediumDave65 @mediumdave65.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

It was reminiscent of the anti-German sentiment during WWI when sauerkraut was called “liberty sausage” but Germany was actually the enemy in that war. 🙂‍↔️

But despite all this, anti-immigration policies are quite popular. 🤷‍♂️

000

MediumDave65 @mediumdave65.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

Then add to that the direct cost of immigration enforcement, which costs billions… and it becomes clear that harshly restrictive immigration policies are an enormous net loss to our economy.

000

MediumDave65 @mediumdave65.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

A recent report from the Congressional Budget Office (not exactly a hotbed of lefties) estimated that the benefit to federal revenues from immigration exceeds the cost 40-fold.

MediumDave65 @mediumdave65.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

Immigration opponents often talk about the cost of integrating new residents into our society. But the cost of restricting immigration is quite high!

To counter Trump’s attempted erasure of indigenous place names such as #LakeOntario, Canada should rename Lake Superior to Gichi-gami. 🇨🇦

Harking back to a time when we thought it was ridiculous that a POTUS would try to rename one of the Great Lakes. 😩

000

MediumDave65 @mediumdave65.bsky.social · 28/08/2026

Perhaps it’s a coincidence… but the three most notable place names that Trump has tried to change are indigenous in origin: Denali (Athabaskan), Gulf of Mexico (Aztec), and Lake Ontario (Huron).

I feel a little nostalgic when I see one of those old buses in a movie or TV show. The CTA was still running them when I moved to Chicago in the 80s.
