We don't bury our iViking hoard away to be found centuries later! Instead, it's all available to scroll through both in app and on our website norsemap.eu. You could even go to the map section and look through Viking heritage location by location and they may surprise you!🗺 #NorseMap #MedievalSky

On the mean streets of the big city, a lone figure stands against the darkness...
A cheerful red square robot, probably a food delivery 'bot, navigates the sidewalk of a major American city after dark

On a scale of Mary's pets, how are you starting out this new week? Lewis: rawr. Might start a fight, might take a nap Hooch: just getting on with things Gandalf: ask me later Pumpkin: feigned innocence Róisín: just no
Top left: fuzzy gray cat loafing on a mat in front of a plastic sword
Bottom left: adorable brown mutt with cataracts trots forward
Middle top: sleek gray kitteh licks his butt
Middle bottom: fuzzy orange boi looks up at you with his eyes wide, as if he hadn't just tipped over the bin of cat food and spilled the entire contents across the floor
Right: long photo of a very pretty black and white husky stretched out napping on the floor alongside a sofa, with her head shoved under the sofa

Reasonably tidy selvedges and hem stitching. Not Friday, and the huck pattern is in no way #WeavingLikeAViking
An all-red weaving pattern. At the bottom, warp threads are gathered in bunches of five with a hem stitch holding the bundles in place against several inches of plain weave, which sits in the middle of the photo. The plain weave becomes a huck pattern, where a repeating pattern of floating stitches can be seen. Above that, is unwoven warp.An all-red weaving pattern. Medieval movies are nearly all about Vikings, Crusades, Robin Hood, or Plague. There's a thousand years of history work with -- why can't we have JUST ONE about something else?

My dad was a construction worker. He also loved history & always had his nose in a book. I'm a history prof, but should I have started trade school when I was 9 instead? Call me crazy, but I thought the American dream meant your choices weren't made for you in childhood; that's dystopian SciFi stuff

I am a medievalist. I teach Joan of Arc. In the Vikings we read about Loki and Thor cross-dressing and Loki becoming female (a horse) and even giving birth. John/Eleanor Rykener, the Abbot who fell asleep a man and woke up a woman, Sir Ulrich von Lichtenstein. And that's just western Europe!

I keep thinking about this, and where does critical thinking fit in? What if faculty don't "indoctrinate" students by teaching specific topics (which we all know), but we do empower them by teaching how to figure sh!t out on their own?

A colleague used to tell his students that the word "vandalism" comes from the Vandals because they always forgot that the correct order was to loot, then pillage, THEN burn. Waiting for the pool to fill with 4 million gallons of water before slashing sounds pretty on brand for those ancient Vandals
