*sigh* this is what I get for continue to try and finish these mittens while I’m tired. Better to sleep before ripping back and trying again.
A red and black colour work mitten lays almost compete on a white blanket. The cuff has checkerboards and hearts, and the body of the mittens has a v pattern surrounding a maple leaf. At the top, near the needles, there is a jump in the v.

Did I make it to the split for the thumb before realizing I had two sides with the back patterns, and no sides with the palm pattern? Yes. (This is post-rip-back)
A red and black mitten in progress. There is a rolled cuff (with cozy ribbing inside), a checkerboard section, and a hearts section in colour work on the cuff. That’s as far as it’s knit.

To avoid spoilers, I’m switching to B&W for the rest of the week. Two draws into the Olympics Trials, Two stripes down in the socks!
A black and white photo shows four starts of socks balanced on a pair of knees. Each of the four have a light coloured cuff, and two completed stripes.

In the background you can see a curling rock hat, and a sheet of ice with curlers.

_It begins_ We’re knitting our advent sock yarn at the Canadian Curling Trials, one stripe per draw. This might be the only photo we post “live” so we don’t spoil the colours for others.
A sparkly white sock cuff, on the needles, balances on a black crossbar. Behind it, there are curling sheets with women playing on them.

I’m on to the second sock! Took it to sit next to the river with a glass of wine this afternoon.
An orange project bag, orange sock-in-progress and an orange glass of wine in a tall stem glass sit on a picnic table next to a river. The sock hack needles in it, and it more of a tube with some ribbing and cables than a sock.

This is shaping up to be the first month I’m not finished before the next pattern drops. I’ve just turned the heel of the first sock, and it’s already the 24th 😬 Nothing about the pattern itself - there just hasn’t been much knitting this morning
An half knit orange sock rests on a jean covered leg. The sock has a mix of ribbing and cable down the leg, and the heel has just been turned and the gusset picked up.

It’s added a nice amount of space and stops the top from stretching so much.

My advent/curling socks are complete! (Pending weaving in of ends) They’re the same gradient running opposite directions on each pair. (The yarn is The Cozy Knitter 2024 advent sock yarn) I’m really happy with adding a little short row gusset to the afterthought heels.
Two pairs of brightly striped hand knitted socks sit on a blue table. The pair on the left has sparkly white heels, toes and cuffs, while the one on the right is charcoal gray.

There are 24 stripes in each sock because they were originally for advent knitting.

A wild Friday night putting heels in sock tubes I had waiting in a pile of sock tubes. I always want knitting out of both ends of the same ball to be a nice smooth process - but it’s always a twisting mess… and yet I’ll do it again.
Two knitted socks lay on the table, with needles in each of their unfinished heels. The socks have white sparkly cuffs, toes and heels - while the main body of the sock is multi-coloured striped

As I cast on for the fourth pair in the Handmade Sock Society 6 by Helen Stewart, I realized that I don’t think I showed any photos of the third pair. I did knit them!! I finished them earlier this week, although I haven’t woven in any ends on any of the pairs yet.
Three pairs of folded socks and a ball of yarn sit on a blue table. They are in a gradient of colours between yellow and a red-orange. The left most is yellow and has a lace top to the foot, the middle pair is a light orange and the legs show knitted texture. The right most pair is a darker orange and it also has a lace top to the foot. Above all three socks is a dark red-orange ball of yarn with needles sticking out.

Three socks should be enough knitting for watching a soccer game, right?
An iPad sits on a blue and white striped couch cushion. On top of the iPad keyboard, there are three knitted socks at various degrees of competition. The one on the right is orange lace, the one in the middle is rainbow stripes with gray yarn for working the cuff, and the one on the left is pink and sea foam stripes. On the iPad is the women’s Euros final game.

Day 15 (using the tour stages as counting) of the Tour de Fleece: I didn’t get a full 15 minutes in yesterday, but did get more than that in today! Most of the way through the blue section.
The top view of a spinning wheel bobbin. Almost all of the bobbin is covered in blue singles, but the very bottom has green from the layer below still poking through.

Tour de Fleece Day 14: covered the last of the blue on the bottom of the bobbin just in time to start the next section of blue! I’m not always a fan of spinning high silk contents, but this is delightful.
The top view of a spinning wheel bobbin. The bobbin is covered in green and blue and teal yarn. The yarn is very fine and shiny from the silk content.

Tour de Fleece Day 13: most of the way through this section of dark green!
The top view of a spinning wheel bobbin. The top of the yarn on the bobbin is light green, the middle is dark green, and the bottom is blue. The yarn is shiny because it’s half silk.

Tour de Fleece Day… 11? 12? How do we count the rest day? Got my 15 minutes in right at the end of the day before bed, so the photo quality isn’t great. Mostly just a little green addition at the top of the bobbin.
The top view of a spinning wheel bobbin. There is a very fine yarn on the bobbin. The colours are a gradient running from green at the top to blue at the bottom. The shades of green and blue give “tropical bird” energy to me.

Tour de Fleece Day 10: late night spinning today, so terrible lighting. I’m happy to have covered the last of the orange leader thread poking through, and made it to the first colour change!
A poorly lit overhead view of a spinning wheel bobbin. Thin singles of yarn range from a deep blue at the bottom, through teal, up to green at the top of the bobbin. The ball of blue and green fibre can be seen on the floor in the distance.

I’m really loving the colours in this braid! At least I have that going for me as I’m pretty sure this spin is going to last the rest of the tour 😂 what’s your next spin?

Tour de Fleece Day 9: Spinning the fibre I prepped yesterday. I forgot how much slower progress looks with such a fine weight spin.
The top view of a spinning wheel bobbin. It’s barely covered with fine blue singles yarn. The leader thread, which is orange, is poking through in spots.

The yarn has no real pre-planned purpose, so it’s not really concerning to me if I get yarn end up more “sibling skeins” than a true match.

Day 8 of the Tour de Fleece: I spent time this morning prepping. A bunch of my stash is a bit compressed, so I teased it open a bit and then very lightly pre-drafted to bring everything together. This fibre is a wool/silk blend from @goodfibrations.bluesky.com
Blue and green shiny fibre is held by a hand in front of a screen. The screen shows the Tour De France stage 8 with 75.3 km left.

I knit the -neon- cuffs of these socks over the winter, and then rapidly realized that I did not have enough light for tiny black yarn. I’ve pulled them both out and I’m going to try to power through them while I have the light. (Yarn is all Leo and Roxy)
A pair of partially finished socks sit on a black table. The cuff of the socks are black, and the unfinished feet of the socks are black, but the leg of the socks is neon rainbow stripes!

Day 7 of the Tour de France: finished the neon braid! The two bobbins seem fairly different, so I think we’re looking at chain plying?

Day 6 of the Tour de Fleece: we’re through the purple and most of way through pink, which means we’re almost done this braid!
A top view of a spinning wheel bobbin - the top is purple gradiating to pink most of the way down the bottom. At the bottom the bobbin is green from the previous layer of colour.

Day five of tour de fleece: Left spinning right to the end of the day, but spent more than 15 minutes so that I could cover the bobbin with a pretty gradient.

Didn’t sleep well, so got some tour de fleece spinning done in the morning!
A bobbin on a spinning wheel. The spun wool is yellow gradating to a very light green at the top. If you compare it to yesterday’s photo, the green is on the opposite side because I did a whole layer of spinning on the bobbin.

I’m not setting any goals for tour de fleece, but I did spin for 15 minutes today! I finished the matching braid quickly after buying them at PEI Fibre festival, but stalled out on this one half way through.
An odd top down view of a spinning wheel to focus on the bobbin on the flyer. The bobbin has neon green fading to neon yellow at the bottom. More neon colours are on the pedals below.

Progress on my plain vanilla socks! The next KAL sock pattern dropped yesterday, and I’ve started, but it’s not really drag-around with me knitting.
A pink, mint, beige, and gray stripped knitted sock sits on a blue table. Where there should be a toe, there are four yellow knitting needles. The ball of yarn with the fifth needle sits next to the sock.

I have three socks waiting for a toe graft, so clearly it’s time to cast on another! The next KAL pattern isn’t out yet, so I’m just casting on a vanilla self striping.

Sock one, foot take two, is going well! I’m hoping to be done today. The yarn is @indigodragonfly.bsky.social and the stitch markers are Juniper and Ginger
An almost finished orange knitted sock sits on a grass background. The sock leg is textured using knits and purls. The sock foot has a green stitch marker every 10 rows past the last gusset decrease.

They look lovely!! I think I’m doing the whole series in a yellow/orange gradient to fill similar colour gaps in my sock collection.

They are! I hadn’t knit a pair in so long, so I impulse cast on a pair a few weeks ago!

It was the first sock! I did rip it all back to the gusset to fix it, I would _know_ otherwise 😂

It’s interesting to see when some knitting reflexes kick in… Apparently I decreased to my normal 32 for the bottom of the foot… except that wasn’t the number I was supposed to decrease to. I didn’t notice until I was more than halfway through the toe 🤦‍♀️
An orange knitted sock with needles on the toe, with a second needle run through right before the toe. There are 32 stitches on the needle. There are not supposed to be 32 stitches on the needle.

I’m trying to get reacquainted with my stash after years of looking at it through a sweater only lens. After knitting my first patterned sock in years, it felt like maybe time for more, maybe some throwbacks to older patterns. I’ve cast on a Jaywalker sock in some deep stash.
A blue and purple ball of self striping yarn sits on a table next to the cuff and first inch of a knitted sock. The cuff is 2 by 2 ribbing, and the body of the sock will become zigzagging stripes.

We have socks!! I don’t know when I last knit patterned socks, but when @estregger.bsky.social posted about her cast on, it felt like something I should do to expand my knitting sphere. Socks are Flourish socks by Helen Stewart in yarn from @indigodragonfly.bsky.social’s yarn dying camp!
Two bright yellow socks are stretched on sock blockers, sitting on a wooden table. The front of the socks are a pretty lacy pattern, while the back is plain stockinette.

Once again, I’ve learned a valuable lesson about knitting lace in meetings. I will obviously be repeating the mistake again today 😂

Somehow, I can stick to a lace pattern through watching 2 periods of tense overtime hockey, but then lost it during meetings this afternoon. When I reached the toe, I found myself missing 4 stitches because I missed a yarnover a while back. I’m ripped back and back on track.
A yellow lace sock-in-progress is covered in yarn barf (the yarn from unravelled knitting). It’s hard to see in the photo, but I actually ripped back row by row on the front needle only until I reached the right number of stitches again, then threaded the needle through the back at the same row.

Significant sock progress was made today - thanks to a drizzly day and double overtime.
A yellow sock-in-process is shown on a sock blocker. The front of the sock is lace, while the back is stockenette. The sock is knit top down, to just past the gusset. The ball of yarn sits on the toe of the sock blocker.
