I feel the preferences searchability has become progressively worse in recent macos versions. Why the heck would they need to "build and index" anyway - as you say, trivial amount of data, you could do a naive search with the compute we had a decade ago 😂

Hackers Had A Live Feed Of Every ID This Verification Company Scanned. For Over A Year.
From the very beginning of this recent obsession with identifying everyone online (yes, they like to call it "age" verification, but it always ends up as identity verification), we've been pointing out that it was a huge privacy nightmare waiting to happen. Or maybe it wasn't waiting. Maybe it was already happening. This week a...

BitWarden is great - it supports the three major operating system, their design is sound, you can choose European datacenters (for what its worth), and the core is open source, so you can self-host if you want.

I think this might be one of the stupidest ways to run DOOM we've seen so far.
Three web browser panes showing a custom Pi agent running in a webbrowser, trying to reason about Playwright screenshots of doom. Another tab showing some weird platforms stats. And the final tab showing screenshots (not video!) being displayed whenever the agents "sees something interesting".

I'm having good results with Luna as orchestrator at high effort with /goal set, delegating work to Terra or Luna subagents depending on complexity, Sol for review (or gnarly problems). Opus for planning / idea pingpong. But problem space and harness etc. are also huge factors.

Yeah, I'm running Bifrost for the stuff I'm messing with, to get some insights and and protect credentials from agents making mistakes - and trying to figure out if I should use Arize Phoenix or something else for traces. Fun times! :)

So uh, I'm currently considering migrating a custom FlatCar based system to NixOS – is this a bad idea? Will mainly run container workloads, but NixOS's "boot into a previous version" seems nice even if I'm not managing a lot of system packages, only base + systemd units for container stuff.

It seems *very* capable so far, but to run it at comfortable speed you need hardware that would pay for cloud tokens for quite a while 😅 (At current prices, who knows what tokens and hardware costs a month from now...)

Sune Marcher @me.snemarch.dk · 19/08/2026
Make Luna orchestra subagents - Terra for implementing, Sol for reviewing. If you have a reliable way to classify "simple subtask" you can even have Luna implement those, it punches *way* above it's cost class.

Qwen 3.8 in a custom harness seems *very* capable. R.e. being ambivalent on training data, there's also the issue that initial training requires those big nasty datacenters - I feel somewhat dirty using the local models. Like the "why shouldn't I keep it" Bilbo meme...

The engine and model(s) to use depends on what hardware you have available - for modest resources, pure llama.cpp is a good bet. If you're on Mac hardware, I would have suggested lmstudio, but the company seems to be moving towards some paid cloud products, so... 🤷‍♂️
