This is based on an actual OC for a fangame I worked on22 years ago. I found some art I made for it on a waybackmachine archive of my website from 2004, so against my own feelings of cringe, here's 13 year old me's idea of an epic, cool game poster

Kukuri in one hour :) Drawing this character was so much fun! I tried a couple of different poses and this is the one that spoke to me the most. #Art #DigitalArt #CSP #MagicalGuruGuru

Digital illustration of Kukuri from Magical Guru Guru. She is a short witch with a big robe and long rich red pigtails. She is smiling with an open mouth at the viewer, stepping forward with her hands splayed out playfully. In her camera-left hand, she is holding a staff with a large blue sun-like shape on the end, which has a half-closed eye on it.

Day 4 #octhetober, CASTLEVANIA: The Monk A mysterious, scarred monk that Simon meets on his quests. Future Belmonts will each encounter a similar man of the same occupation. Perhaps The Monk's bloodline is as resilient as the Belmonts'. One thing doesn't make sense though...Scars aren't hereditary.

Day 3 of #octhetober, PUZZLE GAME was the theme. What if the KapuKapus from ChuChu Rocket had their own predator? That would be WanWan!

DAY 2 of #octhetober, the game was 'WILD', so I picked Ace Attorney. Shamus Gumshoe, the late uncle of Dick Gumshoe. A successful and famous Detective, he was the inspiration that led our Gumshoe into a life of police detective work. He hopes one day he will be as good at his job as his uncle was.

#OCTheTober Day 2: Wild. Shamus Gumshoe. A detective in a large coat and a hat, with a resemblance to Gumshoe from Ace Attorney.

DAY 1 of #octhetober, my SONIC OC, Riggit the Rat. He's an electronic enthusiast for-hire. His only alignment is where the money comes from. Currently he's being employed by Robotnik to tamper with the monitors laid out across the different zones.

#octhetober day one: sonic oc.
A brown rat drawn in classic Sonic style, with a screwdriver in one hand and his other hand resting on a Fuzzy TV monitor with Sonic's face displayed on it. He is bent down, about to tamper with it

The same art of the rat, in a manual for sonic the hedgehog alongside other characters. His name is Riggit The Rat.

Earthbound: Starting to realize I have a specific type in RPGs I suppose. Unconventional, modern setting with unique, memorable NPCs and locations. It has impacted the way that I design cities and towns in my own projects. Some of my favorite music comes from EB. This quirky™ RPG has it all.

Pokemon Blue: with Red, the 2 that kicked this all off. While janky, you gotta give credit to these for setting up the world, music, designs, etc. to build upon in the future. It's so funny looking back at an unrefined pre-corporatized version of Pokemon, w/ direct references to death and gambling

MarioDragmire @mdragmire.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

Super Mario World: My favorite of the oldschool Platformers. The movements and mechanics are perfect. The music and graphics are timeless. The huge, mysterious World map waiting to be explored and revealed, it unlocked something in my imagination that I've not really felt since.

Super Mario RPG: What more can I say that I already haven't? my 1st RPG, the visual style of this was so cool looking, the dialogue was funny & theres so much personality in every NPC & locale. The timed hit battle engine was fun & engaging. The music & sound design is magical. my fav of all time

this was tough. while I can easily pick 9 of my top fav games, these are the games that "shaped" me, my interests, what I look for in games, etc. for example: while Pokemon Gold is my favorite in the series, Blue was my first and had the greatest impact by being the introduction to that world.

my 9 games that shaped who I am:

Super Mario RPG, Super Mario World, Pokemon Blue, Earthbound, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Super Mario 64, Zelda Link's Awakening DX, Fallout New Vegas, Civilization 4

did this back in 2020, wanted to do it again for 2026. Different from OCTober/OC-Tober, this is "OC The Tober", where you create OCs for existing VideoGame Universes, like many of us did in the early-mid 00's. If you want to join in, be sure to use the #OcTheTober tag
