Boardwalk Hall was, is, and always will be an amazing venue for Phish shows.

Seeing domi and JDBeck. I have never heard of them before, an hour ago, when my friend offered me a free ticket. I still have not listened to any of their music but there’s a lot of cool looking people here, and most of them are younger than me, so I think I’m in a good place

My daughter just started middle school (6-8 grades) and our middle school is huge (3500 kids). She auditioned for Philharmonic Orchestra, which is an extracurricular and made up of the best of the best at the school. We were warned that fewer than 5 sixth graders make it every year. Not only did […]

I saw Coyote vs. Acme last night. It's really good! Easily the best live action-animation hybrid since Roger Rabbit. The perfect family movie that kids will get, teens won't think is too juvenile for them, and adults will understand the humor and themes that go over the younger ones' heads […]

I live 2.5 miles from the Pentagon (I didn’t live here in 2001, though). Our Neighborhood Dads listserv had a thread today with everyone sharing their 9/11 stories. You don’t hear these as much as you hear NYC stories. Lots of crazy stuff from people who worked there, the capitol, White House […]

I just listened to the Coral Sky Crosseyed and Painless back to back with the version from MSG this summer. I think if. you played these for someone who is not a Phish fan but has good ears they wouldn't be able to tell you which one was played 30 years ago and which one was played 6 weeks ago.

Had a fantastic night at Wolf Trap last night with TTB. Their set was rocking, most of the orchestra front of the orchestra was on their feet for the majority of the night, song selection was on point. They did a KILLER version of Walk on Guilded Splinters, a gorgeous Dolly cover, and a haunting […]

This is WILD. If you know anything about Bob Dylan, you know that he doesn't hang out, he doesn't connect with other people. He's elusive. Artists have done entire tours opening up for him and not seen him at all other than watching him play his set. I've heard other musicians praise Billy in […]

I have a lot to say about that show, but all I’ll say for now is that I have never seen an entire section of an arena absolutely leveled by a set of music like what set 2 did to our section tonight. Everyone collapsed into their seats during the encore break panting, chugging water, and looking […]

The new Rolling Stones songs are of course late-stage legacy act slop, but their cover of You Know I'm No Good is pretty great.

I think Phish finally figured out how to get out of the rut they have been in since Baker’s Dozen. I don’t think I’ve seen the band in this mode since summer 2015.

Do you want to know why WXPN is the greatest FM radio station left? Because their "Throwback Thursday" theme today is "Jamnation" and they are currently 20 mins deep on a version of Tweezer being played to the greater Philadelphia region and beyond.

If you're a Goose fan, I highly recommend listening to Sunday night's show at Merriweather. One of the best Goose shows I've seen...maybe even the best. And that's despite the fact that they played Pancakes!

Widow’s Bay stuck the landing. What a fantastic season of TV. If you haven’t watched it yet, go for it. Think Jaws meets Lost meets Stephen King. The creators of Lost and Mr. King himself have heaped praise on the show. Can’t wait for season 2!

Ok, listen. As a Philly guy I’m obligated to say Fuck The Knicks. But also, San Antonio is such a non-city that those people don’t deserve a championship. So I’m reluctantly cheering for this thing to be over tonight.
