If you made this, I’d like to ask your permission to use it in a slide deck for teaching AI ethics -? Happy to attribute properly!

Also looks like out of the 75% who said “sometimes,” a further 45% said “never” to both of the examples listed above -? So endorsement may be even lower…?

over the past few weeks several AI evaluation/cybersecurity experts have explained how what's happening is a result of human incompetence rather than "AI going rogue". I'm begging the media to show a shred of journalistic integrity and stop parroting what altman or amodei say

I well and truly wonder how much the AI push from senior leaders is them thinking it makes them cool and edgy? Like, are AI in education strategies the substantive equivalent of ⬇️ ?

Anybody have thoughts about the ethics of incessant nuisance queries to drive up cost for the company, versus the environmental impact and potential impression of utility by using the product?

“For some older intelligence officials — even those who broadly support the use of AI inside the military — AI has put pressure on analysts to produce and disseminate intelligence faster, opening the door for mistakes.” This is called Jevon’s paradox. And we can’t afford to ignore it any longer.

People read the "AI WILL KILL US" narrative as involving a brave whistleblower revealing that AI researchers believe AI will kill us all — suggesting that they know something we don't, having worked on the technology. AI CEOs had to respond. As did politicians from Trump to Sanders. That's false.

This seems like a really weird way of protecting Australian content… like a robber walks into your house and you’re like “You can’t steal from me, I will load my stuff into your unmarked van while you sit on my couch! Here, I’ll make you a coffee, because you’re not stealing my coffee!”

Funny how we “can’t scale” education, healthcare, writing, public libraries, etc but we CAN scale data centres, private companies, and procurement of licences for AI products… no one seems to know why. I suppose it’s just one of the universe’s great mysteries 🤷🏻‍♀️

What I find revealing is that when you try to ask for the terms of use it’s like everyone has collective amnesia that such documents exist. The last set I reviewed, the copilot TOS directly contradicted the TOS for the org’s M365 enterprise agreement - the legal department had not caught it!

Is anybody else noticing how all these academics who insisted on explainability for “ethical AI” have just quietly jumped right into LLMs and AI Agents, seemingly with total amnesia to their whole “AI must be explainable!” thing?

Kids are being told to use AI to draft their stories, generate images, brainstorm and many kids are saying they want to do it themselves or with their friends. It is absolutely wild that they are having to advocate for their own learning in the place that is supposed to educate them.

We advocate for the silent phase as potentially the MOST IMPORTANT stage of AI translation because it gives you specific, local evidence for performance in your setting. And we can do them better than how we are now - this means less wasteful translation and research, and more reliable evidence
