"The plan premium covers only the price of carrying the Medicare Advantage card separate from the price of using it. That is the trick baked into a $0-premium comparison. The number on the front of the ANOC held flat. The lines that moved sit 5 pages deeper." #MedicareAdvantage #AnnualNoticeOfChange

Your ANOC's First Page Says $0 Premium Again for 2027. Page Six Says the Hospital Copay Went From $295 a Day to $395, in the Same Size Type
Your Medicare Advantage plan kept its $0 premium for 2027, but buried deeper in that ANOC packet is a number that could cost you hundreds more for a single hospital stay, and most enrollees never read...

The current system is run by the big insurance companies. They run supplemental, part D and MA, along with much of Medicare and more. We would be dependent on the companies that helped create the problem

Ive proposed to many unions that they should use their health benefits as a trojan horse to engage small companies and do collective bargaining in exchange for saving the companies a ton on health care. But the unions don't want to fight taft Hartley

You have to be a lot more specific than that. And we I said elsewhere. I've never been against taxing loans, as long as the tax gets credited when the underlying asset is sold.

Mark Cuban @mcuban.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
There exactly what is happening with AI. Google Meta etc are investing in employees and R&D more than they generate in cash But I agree, there should be an alt min tax for companies that retain too much in earnings and more taxes on stock buy backs.
120
Mark Cuban @mcuban.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
I agree that it's unfairly distributed. The change has been almost all attributed to stock appreciation. Which is why I am a big proponenent of further taxing companies that don't offer stock to all employees on a pro rata basis to cash earnings.

Actually what happens is that you get to the point where you realize it does more for others than for you. I can only think of one person who I have met, that has become a billionaire, that does not help others in some significant way
110
Mark Cuban @mcuban.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
That said. It's easy to hate the rich. I've been on both sides, I'd rather be hated than eating mustard and ketchup sandwiches again

Mark Cuban @mcuban.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
I like the give and take. I certainly learn. And tbh , while I only know a couple billionaires , they are focused on running their businesses. They also are not exploitive. Not saying they are exemplary of all wealthy people. But they aren't as bad as you think
220
Mark Cuban @mcuban.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
Now it's liquid financial assets? No proposed wealth tax has ever made that stipulation. Most billionaires don't have 250m in liquid financial assets.

I don't borrow against my assets to buy things. So I'm good ?

Explain liquidity vs unrealized gains and how that would change how and where people invest their money. Then explain the impact on their savings, their pay at work and the economy in general.

Who do you work for and who owns the company ?

Mark Cuban @mcuban.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
I would be fine with that if they could deduct it in the same year. Even if they don't have gains to offset the losses. Btw. I don't ever borrow against equity.

Everyone wants to rip on the rich people. That's fair. But they don't want to determine the actual impact on those who are not rich. You write about the GFC. You have seen the downstream impact.

Mark Cuban @mcuban.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
They do this because they know the market could and some day will crash. They don't want to be bought in.

Mark Cuban @mcuban.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
So just trust everyone ? How would that work ? Ain't no one borrowing that much other than to invest in an asset. So you have to address the tax scenario and the impact on investment etc Most people who run or control public companies have scheduled stock sales. They are generating cash.

Mark Cuban @mcuban.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
You just changed what you said. Your words were "250 million dollars in assets should have to declare every calendar year a voluntary "collateral price" and if it's higher than last year it counts as capital gains realization? " How much would you pay for the increase to 500m for your company ?
110
Mark Cuban @mcuban.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
You said someone with 250m in net worth. I think your net worth is at least double that. All the margin debt that day traders and other individuals have is all personal loans. I know you understand liquidity traps. You write about them.

I would love to see a post on your sub stack about behavioral changes of investors if these types or laws are passed and the impact on the economy, jobs , income, wages ...

Like people who have saved their entire lives and don't want to sell the stocks they own, because of the cap gains. You may want a higher threshold. But based on the feedback here, unearned income, no matter who has it, needs to be taxed.

Mark Cuban @mcuban.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
You have heard of margin loans that are available to most retail accounts starting with a $2,000 balance ? Yes the more you borrow the lower the rate. The point is, once you start taxing the loans , or home equity loans, the law of unintended consequences shows up
200
Mark Cuban @mcuban.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
I think your sub stack is worth 500m. It's amazing and obviously growing. So I think we can both agree that is a valid valuation ? It we can come to an agreement on that, then we can start a discussion on taxes

Who owns the company you work for ? Who made the investment. What risk did they take ? Or if you don’t work for a private company , ask someone who does. Who takes the risk ? What happens when they bust their ass working 80 hrs a week just to break even. They don’t always get paid. But you do.

Mark Cuban @mcuban.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
Never heard me say I was against taxing loans against assets. The challenge is what happens when they sell that asset ?
110
Mark Cuban @mcuban.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
Not all assets are public companies. If someone walks into shark tank with a company that gets a deal for 100k for 5 pct of their company. They now own 95% of a company worth 2m dollars. With an unrealized gain of $1.9m. Tax em like regular income ?
220
Mark Cuban @mcuban.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
It’s a non sequitor. If your sole “income” is unrealized capital gains, you didn’t add a penny to your bank account. You had no income. No it shouldn’t be taxed. You would have no capital to pay the tax. You realized no income.
11141
Mark Cuban @mcuban.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
Misleading. The investor can have no other income of any kind to pay 0 taxes. They can't make more than 50k in TOTAL The mission is to protect retirees who have little income and sell stocks or other investments. As far as investing. Now talk about losses. Not all investments work.
