Very exciting - my first publication with one of my grad students. He built a trait database for benthic communities to explore the functional losses caused by macro algae decline doi.org/10.3354/meps

New paper in @NatureEcoEvo led by @FlandrinU shows that while marine protected areas do indeed enhance ecosystem services, they only marginally offset the negative impacts of long-term human exploitation doi.org/10.1038/s415...

🚨New Paper ! 🚨 Glad to see my second thesis chapter finally published in @natecoevo.nature.com ! 🎉Marine protected areas marginally offset anthropogenic declines in tropical reef fish contributions to nature and people🎉 www.nature.com/articles/s41... @umontpellier.bsky.social

Check out our new paper in @newphyt.bsky.social led by Nestor Bosch Global patterns in seagrass trait composition are strongly linked to phylogenetic dissimilarity, showing the importance of evolutionary history in shaping contemporary seagrass biogeography doi.org/10.1111/nph....

Check out our new paper in GEC showing how ecological traits can be used to rank conservation priorities for fish species within the same IUCN categories. Priorities for threatened species can change importantly based on conservation goals. doi.org/10.1016/j.ge...

Large #teeth & highly protrusible #jaws are 2 feeding innovations that have evolved in #fish. But @cichlidnick.bsky.social &co suggest that they're incompatible with each other; large teeth unlock new feeding modes, but constrain how prey can be captured @plosbiology.org 🧪 plos.io/3HVH7go
Extreme morphological adaptations to accommodate large teeth in fish jaws. Depicted are species from the upper 10% of our dataset on tooth size, which have all evolved unique modifications to accommodate large teeth in their jaws. Conserving the beauty of the world’s reef fish assemblages 💙 Check out our last paper @pnas.org We mapped what makes reef fish assemblages beautiful worldwide! 🌍 MPAs boost aesthetic, and developing countries have a chance to align conservation with local benefits doi.org/10.1073/pnas... 🌐🧪🦑🦤

🚨NEW IN @pnas.org🚨 We evaluated the distribution and drivers of aesthetic value in reef fish assemblages worldwide! MPAs enhance aesthetic value and tropical developing countries have the greatest potential conservation benefits! doi.org/10.1073/pnas... @reeflifesurvey.bsky.social
