So me and my son witnessed an elderly lady suffering a bad fall after she got off the bus, in keynsham near Bristol. We stopped to help, Ambo called and then we got hold of her son, too. He arrived & as he did, his phone rings: Z cars ringtone. He's a Blue! We're everywhere, yano. #efc #utft

Now that's increasingly obvious that putting their weight behind Farage & co is toxic AF, they're hoping for some Tory credibility instead. They won't get it. The stink of 14 shitshow years isn't going away any time soon.

100%. He said NOTHING controversial. They've also misrepresented the truth about triple lock, made a massive deal about prisoner releases, all the time accompanied by the whining of Chris Mason, the slimiest little ratcunt on the face of the earth. And as for immigration...🤬🤬🤬

They've shown no consistency in how they've punished teams. Slap on the wrist for CFC; massive hammer on us; somewhere in between for Forest. And noone's ever questioned how ManU are allowed to operate. Plus mainly foreign owners. If they shit the bed, then the golden goose is cooked.

I'm sure that City have realised the value of these "insulations". They've created a situation where for lots of reasons theyre almost too valuable to fail.

I'm with you Geof. There's a lot to juggle here. FWIW, the PL are between a rock and a hard place: destroying City may be an ethically appropriate punishment, but in so doing they destroy their own brand. Going soft protects the brand but opens them up to massive pelters.

And it does rankle with me that the downfall of city serves mainly to strengthen Arsenal, Manure & the RS. Current spending caps make it highly impossible for anyone outside to spend their way to success.

Paul R @mcladjuster.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
I've always wondered about just how they managed to have such spending power when they rarely fill their own stadium. Now it seems I have the answer. But how weak must PL auditing have been to have allowed them to do this?

Still in a T shirt here. Nowhere near even considering heating. Ideally it stays off until November.

I don't blame Tuchel much for having a look at Trafford in these fairly meaningless games, but it does allow the hyenas in the press to reopen this tiresome debate. But let's be frank, there was no evidence last night that JP's in trouble just yet.

There are so many layers to this, as you suggest. What was the scrutiny they subjected City to? How did they manage to miss such seemingly obvious sharp practices? Why even now is the process so ponderous, when compared to other cases? Who's been steering the process to get it in to such a state?

The stuff they sell is delicious. We've stopped there a couple of times on our way from Bristol to Liverpool. Best part of £50 for a sandwich/sausage roll and a drink for 4 so frighteningly expensive. I could trolley dash in the shop though, without a doubt.

Gloucester Services on the M5. In there for a slash t'other day. Heaving with affluence. Cost me £4.70 for a (admittedly delicious) scotch egg. Not a can of Monster in sight. I've heard the hunting crowd do their weekly shops there.

I'm currently on a preop restrictive diet of meal replacement shakes only. 9 days in. 5 more days to go. A burger of similar proportions and deliciousness is first on my culinary imperatives, once the malfunctioning organ is removed next week.

I'm sure they've identified the criteria that must be met, and i think there'd have been some additions to the list directly from DM. I'm also sure he feels a real sense of responsibility so doesn't want to stand down until we're better set.

I think we'll struggle to keep him beyond next summer, but as long as those funds are all reinvested, it's the way it has to be, sadly.

And let's be honest, Moyes knows more about picking players than we do!!

But wasn't Marcel Brands meant to be the best DoF in Europe, and that knobhead from Leicester the wizard of recruitment? Maybe a consensus approach produces better results?

You do wonder whether the committee get frustrated with a) getting TFG to approve the fees etc and b) getting the grumpy Scottish git to approve the choice. I suspect both, and getting alignment has proved the most difficult element this summer.

I think we need to be careful to make those judgements so quickly. People massively underestimate how much of a financial rebuild the club needs, so without selling Jarrad for £120m, for example, transfer funds will remain limited.

Paul R @mcladjuster.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
No disrespect, but that's about as negative a take as I can imagine. Nothing in our first 4 games suggests such an outcome, nor in the quality of the players we have bought. Shortcomings up front will clearly limit our ambitions, at least until Jan, but it may not prove much of an issue.

If you look at Roma, there was some initial frustrations aired by supporters but TFG stuck to their guns and it's going ok now. It's harder to achieve that in the PL as quickly, so much patience, determination and resilience is needed from everyone with a stake in the club.

But he still hasn't been given a formal role, and his bitterness shows. Moreover, the current strenuous attempts by many such as he, journos, FB page hosts, etc, to create another "Crisis Club Everton" narrative are verging on the pathetic. It's not perfect but it's certainly not doom and gloom.

The overriding tone of this analysis, like virtually all of his is "I know better than them and better than you, cos I'm good with numbers and I deserve to be involved in running the club." He's like the frustrated punch drunk ex boxer telling everyone in earshot that he could've been a contender.

Start with Shadow of the Wind. The audiobook narrator is really good. There's 5 or 6 in a partially linked series.

100%. Nobody's promoting violence within the game. Where it genuinely occurs, it should be dealt with. But that was a ludicrous, pathetic incident. PGMOL can pat themselves on the back, but it ruined that game as a spectacle. It was shite.
020
Paul R @mcladjuster.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
But why tf can't our officials look at the reality of the incident, which was something and nothing (were it not for the histrionics of that cheating little wkr), and say ffs lads, stop being silly, get on with the game. Foden barely grazed him, yet refs treat it like GBH (as does G Neville)

Paul R @mcladjuster.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
I have lots of arguments with that decision. It falls squarely into the "game's gone" category. PL officials fall for cheating cnts every fkn time.

We bought my mum(88) one a year or so ago. She's put it in her cupboard like it's a permanent keepsake. To be fair, it still looks exactly the same as when we bought it.

Maybe I'm the idiot, but I genuinely don't see it as a burden. Never have, even in our darkest moments. I'm a member of a very special community so ANYONE having a go at it, from outside or in, triggers my defensive instincts, just like I'd defend a family member.
120
Paul R @mcladjuster.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
So your strategy is to boo? Gonna make all the difference, that. Or is it angry social media posts which get picked up & amplified by the mainstream, recycling & prolonging the "crisis club" narrative you're keen to avoid? But no, it's probably my fault.
110
Paul R @mcladjuster.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
I was probably at the same match, insufferable in my childish excitement and optimism about the game. And I still love it now. 54 years on from that game I'm still delirious with excitement & nerves every time we play.

Paul R @mcladjuster.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
See that "especially for us" is exactly what I'm talking about. We are objectively no worse and statistically, historically much better than 95% of the pyramid. The past has gone. If we do, truly, want to move on, we need to dump the comfort blanket of negativity.

Paul R @mcladjuster.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
And while we're at it, we've "won" in 14 seasons out of 146, so let's kill that myth. But this is my family, my community. Loyalty comes first, always. Concerns, as ever, should be aired in private, not public.
