It always feels like all the wrong people die, but I think it’s because there are far more beloved people than there are bastards.

This will soon become Baby Harvey's bedroom. I already converted his crib to a toddler bed! (As soon as I can find a place for about 1000 books and my desk...)

The 2026 Repeat Offenders Spec-Fic Writing Workshop crew at our post-reading dinner at the glorious 715 in LFK! (I think? Could also have been our final dinner together.) I'm just back from visiting family & friends in Texas & catching up here, & I miss these folks already. What a wonderful cohort!

I grew up in a conservative Christian church in MN that held fundraisers to support Hmong immigrants. Most Mnpls residents valued everyone no matter skin color or immigrant status & only progressed since. Yet regime thought they'd be on the side of federal agents attacking, kidnapping, & murdering?

If you're a writer, wondering why you should bother writing with the world on fire. It feels like it's not important, I need you to understand that it is. Even if it is just because it keeps you moving forward? Even if it only brings YOU joy, that gives you energy to fight & survive.

Imagine other horrors that could befall people uploading their consciousness / digitized minds in a capitalist society: Weapons guidance, slave labor, anywhere "AI" fails. When your digital mind dies, they just reload a copy and carry on Hello updated backstory of "I Have No Mouth & I Must Scream"

Eyeball Surgery#1 complete, in bed cuddling Harvey. During was like end of 2001 A Space Odyssey, psychedelic visions & felt going to die. Saw ok after, now only laser afterimages, diffuse special effects. Disturbing but normal? Wearing cyberpunk eyegear for week then do again in 2 weeks, other eye.

Big winter storm about to hit what appears (on the radar map) to be most of the USA, thanks to a polar vortex driving south. Here in LFK we're expecting 8-12" of snow and a quarter inch of ice, plus 45mph winds. Prep for power outages, folks!

PS: Why buy now? With the impending tariffs, expect prices of imports to rise 20-60% depending on how much nations kiss orange butt. I recommend you do the same if you've been holding off on big purchases! Not only did I save 25% on both, but also many more% by buying now before prices rocket up.

Character limit here requires screenshot from my Tumblr blog post - www.tumblr.com/mckitterick/... -(full text in alt)

electoral strategy for Republicans - and other authoritarian parties around the world - depends on an uninformed electorate, because if people really knew what the right-wingnuts wanted to do, most would not vote such garbage people into public office

understanding the majority of voters are kept intentionally ignorant is far preferable to believing most people are self-destructive and hateful - if that were true, we wouldn't have made it this far as a species

but how do we reach those so out of touch that - even in this media-saturated world - many somehow didn't even know Biden wasn't in the race?

now more than ever we need a true free and fair Fourth Estate, journalism dedicated to public education that somehow reaches everyone

but the nature of how people are informed these days emphasizes keeping people locked-in to billionaire-controlled social media and streaming services and hate- and fear-mongering podcasts dedicated to blindering their audience

Years ago someone told a friend I'd never sell a novel; they said that two days before I got my first novel contract. Just today I saw someone saying that I'm not that good of a writer, which, okay, but I'm contracted for 16 more books, so I guess I'll keep at it. So, yeah: Fuck 'em. Do your thing.
