Our wages aren’t keeping up with inflation. Prices on everything are skyrocketing. We’re all living on the edge while billionaires and CEOs make record profits. The Trump economy is not working for working people.

Wage growth just keeps slowing. And yes, wages are rising slower than prices, and no, that's not how economic growth is meant to work.
Line chart titled "Nominal wage growth is slowing" showing year-over-year growth in average hourly earnings of private-sector workers. Wage growth has declined steadily from a peak of 5.9% in early 2022 to 3.0% in September 2026, the slowest rate in the series. This nearly 3 percentage point drop over four and a half years indicates significantly cooler labor market conditions, with the deceleration accelerating in recent months as growth fell from the 3.7-3.9% range in 2025 to the low 3% range currently.

Zohran Mamdani rebukes Trumpism with pro-immigrant speech for US’s 250th birthday
New York mayor’s speech cut ideological counterpoint to policies of president, who will deliver his own remarks later today New York’s mayor, Zohran Mamdani, exalted the city’s legacy of immigrants on Friday in a historically laden, ideological counterpoint to a US semiquincentennial address that was expected later in the day from Donald Trump – who has sought to deport immigrants en masse throughout his second presidency. Speaking from behind a desk at New York’s city hall that belonged to the US’s first president, George Washington, and which itself is a century older than the Resolute desk in the White House, Mamdani was surrounded by naturalized citizens like himself as he listed the waves of immigrants who shaped the city. It's a healthcare economy.
Line chart titled "Effectively all of the net job creation has been in healthcare and social assistance, and jobs are shrinking in the rest of the economy" showing change in employment since January 2025 through June 2026. Healthcare and social assistance added 945,900 jobs over this 18-month period, representing nearly all net job creation, while the rest of the economy lost 229,900 jobs. The healthcare sector grew consistently throughout the period, while other sectors experienced steep declines bottoming at 535,600 jobs lost in February 2026 before partially recovering, illustrating an unusually concentrated labor market where job growth exists almost exclusively in healthcare.

I'm not saying it's cause and effect, but I'm also not not saying it. Either way, the manufacturing revival never came.
Line chart titled "The manufacturing revival never came" showing change in manufacturing payrolls since January 2025. Manufacturing employment fell by 75,000 jobs from January 2025 to June 2026, with losses every month through 2025 reaching 93,000 jobs lost by December. A brief recovery in early 2026 after the Supreme Court struck down tariffs proved temporary, with employment remaining 75,000 jobs below the baseline by June 2026, demonstrating no meaningful revival in the sector.

We have *never* before seen consumer sentiment this low.
Line chart titled "Consumer Sentiment just fell to a (new) all-time low" showing the University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index from 1952 to May 2026. The index plummeted to 44.8 in May 2026, the lowest reading in the survey's 74-year history, falling sharply from 74.0 in December 2024. This marks three consecutive months of decline and drops below all previous crisis lows, including the June 2022 inflation surge low of 50.0 and the April 2020 pandemic low of 71.8, signaling an unprecedented collapse in consumer confidence.
