I'm super proud to have contributed to this work! It's a great intersection between mathematical modelling and molecular biology. I learnt a lot from the Pau Formosa group about system bistability and ghost attractors. It is now available in Nature Communications.👻🌸

New insights into cell fates of the Arabidopsis inflorescence meristem @sebamorenor.bsky.social generated the most detailed map to date of this critical stem cell niche, identifying 18 distinct cell type clusters, including precursors to cortex & vascular tissues www.slcu.cam.ac.uk/news/new-ins...
Inflorescence meristem cell identities: (A) Force-directed graph layout of clusters associated with inner cell layers such as early primordia (EP), undifferentiated cells, procambium, xylem parenchyma and cortex. Clusters are represented by different colours. (B) Schematic illustration of selected cell identities in the primary stem and inflorescence meristem. Procambial strands arise in developing primordia and give rise to vascular bundles, which subsequently differentiate into phloem, cambium and xylem within the primary stem. The exact locations of cell identities in the primary stem are schematically represented rather than accurately portrayed. Illustration by first author first author Dr Sebastián Moreno-Ramírez. Back from the Flower Development Workshop at Presqu'île de Giens! This meeting never disappoints: great science, stimulating discussions, a collaborative and friendly vibe, all in a wonderful setting with beautiful weather. Many thanks to the organizers for putting together such a fantastic event.

When did liverwort oil body cells originate? Here, Susan and I provide quantitative evidence that they emerged by at least the Middle Devonian (~390 Ma!), shedding light on a key anti-herbivory defense mechanism of early land plants!

Check out our latest issue to read an interview with Junko Kyozuka, who studies plant growth with a focus on branching at Tohoku University. Find out more about her key early influences and advice Junko would offer to young scientists! Read the Q&A here: www.cell.com/current-biol...

On Thursday April 23rd, I will be talking about how I am using neurons of the spinal cord of zebrafish to understand the development of the nervous system. Old and new technologies combined to dissect the emergence of patterns in a population of cells! 🐟🧪
Promotional poster of the talk. It is white background with splashes of yellow and black letters. The series are called the Franklin-Prasher-Kimmel Webinar series, and there's a drawing of all three of their faces. This is organized by the Young Researcher Committee of the IZFS, with support of ZDMS ICI.
The announcement says that the talk is on April 23rd, 2026 at 12pm EST/6pm CET. The two speakers are myself, Joaquin Navajas Acedo (title Spatiotemporal emergence of somatosensory neuron diversity in zebrafish) and Ece Atayeter (PhD student in UT Austin; title Cilia.io: a machine learning approach reveal spatial patterns of cilia beating dynamics). There's a bunch of logos and a couple of QR codes you can scan to get to the registration link.

The fact that Americans thought Auxin was a “Hoax from Europe” rightfully got some attention in my latest #PlantScienceClassics post. But it’s actually even funnier if you learn about the context & consequence of White speaking these words to Went at the AAAS Meeting in Pittsburgh. #PlantScience 🧪 🧵
