They do not need some braindead dipshit telling them their votes are "meaningless". The GOP's grip on power will come to an end. And voting will play a massive role in that. It will be no thanks to little cretins like you, trying to ratfuck elections from across the globe.

Orban used extreme gerrymandering in Hungary. It was effective but still eventually defeated by voters. Some of the GOP gerrymandering will be effective but there are also instances of dummymandering that leave them vulnerable to a wave election. But people need to show up and vote in huge numbers.

You said gerrymandering "renders your vote meaningless". Are you now pretending you did not say it? Just like you were pretending to live here? I think you are getting frustrated that I'm not as stupid as you are, and your feeble attempts to deny saying what you said earlier aren't working.

You don't think telling people their vote is "meaningless" denigrates voting? What did you mean by "meaningless" if not the standard definition? What country do you hail from? Is part of your confusion due to you reading a couple of articles about American elections without comprehending?

You don't consider this denigrating the idea of voting? Rendering voting meaningless. Pushing doomerism. I'm an American living in a GOP gerrymander. Are you a Brit or an Aussie? Kiwi?

You've repeatedly denigrated the idea of voting now or in the recent past. And excused people who did not vote in 2024

As I know, you have absolutely done that repeatedly. I'm attempting to get you to answer a few questions. As an aside, why do you believe you've been avoiding answering them? Why do you make snide comments about my behavior that you engage in yourself? Are you even conscious of that fact?

FDR put Japanese Americans in concentration camps. I'd still vote for him over a fascist like Lindbergh or a candidate that wanted peace with the Nazis. You choosing not to vote does not cancel the election, it still continues without you. You cannot escape culpability from the result.

Maybe spend a couple of minutes looking at Trump's approach to USAID and decapitation strikes on other nations. That has real material impacts on people all over the globe and it is not in line with previous administrations.

You are embodying what will make change so difficult by arguing that voters need to wait to fully oppose fascism until either Schumer gives them permission or he's deposed. There's no need to wait.

You can't "just vote" your way out, but detached from voting the other efforts are hollow and useless. Did I concoct the argument where you said that voters were absolved of taking any action?

mc-wren.bsky.social @mc-wren.bsky.social · 25/05/2026
They are voting to soothe their consciences, a concept that exists just in their heads, while refusing to lift a finger to improve actual material conditions for people. Presidential elections determine wars, the composition of the Supreme Court, environmental regulations, etc.

I'm engaging with what you are saying, I'm just not agreeing with your assertion that voting third party in a United States presidential election is morally acceptable or a meaningful attempt to effect change. And when asked to defend your view, you were unable. Have a good night.

How do you propose excising the Democratic leadership without voting? What do you think withholding votes in a general election does besides help the worst crop of Republicans in history win?
100
mc-wren.bsky.social @mc-wren.bsky.social · 25/05/2026
I'm engaging with what you are saying. I'm just not going to share in your fantasy that abstaining or protest votes from left-wing voters do anything but empower the GOP. What did Nader or Stein voters accomplish, in your own words?
100
mc-wren.bsky.social @mc-wren.bsky.social · 25/05/2026
Vote for the viable candidate from the party not being led by the fascist pedophile. Quit searching for justifications to be a quisling. "I'm not going to vote for a Democrat to teach Chuck Schumer a lesson, oops the Republicans won the Senate again and Trump is picking Alito's replacement."
000
mc-wren.bsky.social @mc-wren.bsky.social · 25/05/2026
We do not have a parliament or a prime minister, a third party candidate running for president and getting 1% of the vote does not win any seats for their party or advance their party in any appreciable way. That is just reality. You can either engage with reality or lie to yourself.
100
mc-wren.bsky.social @mc-wren.bsky.social · 25/05/2026
You should vote at lower levels too, but you absolutely need to vote against fascists at the highest level. Seattle city council members do not appoint members of SCOTUS.

mc-wren.bsky.social @mc-wren.bsky.social · 25/05/2026
I'm asking you to be an adult with a functioning brain. Telling low-information left-leaning American voters that voting is meaningless has no other effect beyond helping elect Republicans. Which moves the country to the right and further away from democracy.
100
mc-wren.bsky.social @mc-wren.bsky.social · 25/05/2026
What was the actual result of Nader voters "voting" their conscience? Or Stein voters? What change did they get out of Bush II or Trump that was in line with their stated values?
200
mc-wren.bsky.social @mc-wren.bsky.social · 25/05/2026
Conceding elections to the GOP isn't even maintaining the status quo, it's making things worse. What did Nader voters accomplish with two terms of George W. Bush? What did Stein voters accomplish with Trump's first term?
200
mc-wren.bsky.social @mc-wren.bsky.social · 25/05/2026
How will conceding elections to Republicans make any of that better?
100
mc-wren.bsky.social @mc-wren.bsky.social · 25/05/2026
It's a responsibility of any moral voter to keep fascists out of power. You do not need to tell voters "wait for Chuck Schumer to do it first". They are not even being asked to storm Normandy or stand in front of the Blitzkrieg. They just need to go into a school gymnasium a couple of times a year.

mc-wren.bsky.social @mc-wren.bsky.social · 25/05/2026
In every 21st century election in the United States, the only viable presidential candidates have been either a Republican or a Democrat. That's not a trick, that is just objective reality. Refusing to engage with objective reality only aids the Republicans.
000
mc-wren.bsky.social @mc-wren.bsky.social · 25/05/2026
You can vote for different Dems in primaries. But at the end of the day when it comes down to a general election, it does matter who you vote for. Not voting or voting for Republicans is quisling shit.
000
mc-wren.bsky.social @mc-wren.bsky.social · 25/05/2026
That voters were absolved of any responsibility from voting because of Citizens United and the electoral college and gerrymandering. Then you rambled on about more false equivalencies between the Democrats and the GOP.
110
mc-wren.bsky.social @mc-wren.bsky.social · 25/05/2026
You want Democrats to stand up against the GOP, but you don't think voters are obligated to do the same? If you did not want a Supreme Court with a 6-3 GOP majority, it would've been handy if voters ignored your advice and kept Trump out in 2016.

You don't think you've pivoted? Do you have your own bespoke personal term for when you change the topic to something unrelated that you consider distinct from a pivot?
100
mc-wren.bsky.social @mc-wren.bsky.social · 25/05/2026
You did not say "you need different Democrats" you were defending not voting for Democrats in a general election against a Republican. Mate, you do not need to advocate for fascists in another country. You shouldn't even be doing it in your own.
100
mc-wren.bsky.social @mc-wren.bsky.social · 25/05/2026
Did the GOP have any hand in it? Or would acknowledging that the GOP exists and has agency interfere with your ratfucking?

mc-wren.bsky.social @mc-wren.bsky.social · 25/05/2026
This is not like your country, we do not have a parliament or prime minister over here. There are not three or four viable parties in the US, it is a binary choice. If the Democrats do not win control of Congress this year, it will be because the Republicans won, not some imaginary third party.
200
mc-wren.bsky.social @mc-wren.bsky.social · 25/05/2026
The Dems did not sink it, that's a dishonest framing. You do not even live in the US, why are you trying to ratfuck to elect Republicans?

The part where we both know the refusal isn't based on you "not caring" about Hungarian politics. You were fine opining on Hungarian politics just a moment ago. You won't engage with it further because you are aware it makes you look like the fool you are.

It's really strange that you are either unable or unwilling to answer a relatively straightforward question. If it's a comprehension issue, I can rephrase with words that might be easier for you to follow.

This isn't a pivot. A reference to Harris as the "more genocide" candidate was the initiating post and it's a question you repeatedly dodge answering.

mc-wren.bsky.social @mc-wren.bsky.social · 24/05/2026
Your lack of reading comprehension is not my responsibility. Do you think Hungarian voters were right to vote for Magyar? And if so, why?
100
mc-wren.bsky.social @mc-wren.bsky.social · 24/05/2026
Remember very recently when I asked about Magyar and you answered without comprehending the significance. Then you cowardly refused to engage further with the Hungarian election because you were dimly aware it made you look like a moron? The insults are not unfounded

You think the parallels between Trump and Orban are specious? Is that because you just aren't familiar with Orban? Or because you don't understand?

Do you agree that Harris was the "more genocide" candidate? And if so, why did you vote for her?
