DOS Friends! A new mTCP is available! This version is mostly a maintenance release, except for NetDrive which has some major improvements. (It is faster, especially on remote links.) Downloads and release notes are at www.brutman.com/mTCP/mTCP.html. #retrocomputing

If you need some motivation on why this code is important, here is a quick video that demonstrates what it can do: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JL_... The difference to load that image is very obvious. And it didn't take a single extra byte of RAM to do that. #retrocomputing #mtcp

Help me test some new features in mTCP NetDrive! This version has read-ahead and large writes to speed things up, especially on remote servers. WATTCP programs can now also run while NetDrive is active. See www.brutman.com/mTCP/mTCP_Ne... for details and how to download it. #retrocomputing #mtcp

Major changes in this version: Remove "batch" mode reads (enabled with the -m option) as the feature it is inherently unsafe under DOS ASPI managers. Fix an unload bug that could crash the machine...

And the stupidity continues. In the last 3.5 hours 11068 unique machines have tried to fetch content from the PCjr, with 11304 requests total. 11160 of those have been invalid URLs. This is why residential proxy networks are bad. Sure, there are legit uses for them. And then we have this ...

Want to see the world's dumbest scraping operation? They are scraping the PCjr again. www.youtube.com/live/DUbZE5I... The URLs are invalid; they are stringing together pieces of valid URLs and making invalid ones. So lots of 404s & 414 when the URL gets too long for the machine. #retrocomputing

I have a low profile here so when I saw a notification I was surprised, but in a good way ... For anybody not familiar with DskImage it runs in DOS and it handles standard non-copy protected disks. It's good with transient errors. See www.brutman.com/DskImage/ for the program&code. #retrocomputing

I've always cringed when I heard the term "American exceptionalism." What we are living through now is a generation of people believing they are better than anybody else, getting extremely high on their own supply, and now acting as though it was true.

mTCP users: I'm starting to get another formal release together. Now would be a great time to send me your bug reports and feature requests. This release will have a much faster NetDrive, Telnet emulation fixes, DHCP fixes for VirtualBox, and some subtle library fixes. #retrocomputing

More pictures here - you will not be disappointed. This device was over engineered. photos.app.goo.gl/67S7FK5EduYf... For those of you interested in the tech, it's not quite a SCSI drive. It requires a special controller board (full length ISA) to drive it. That project is next. #retrocomputing
