I'm really pleased that my book The Eternal Wanderer is now available from Cambridge University Press. It explores the antisemitic Wandering Jew myth through Christian writing in the Gothic period, and is drawn from my PhD. You can read it for free until 7 Feb 2025: www.cambridge.org/core/element...

I love all of Syd Moore's witchy books, and THE DROWNING POOL is all about the local Leigh-on-Sea legend of Sarah Grey the sea-witch. And if you want to know more about Syd Moore's witch books, I wrote a blog post about them a few years ago: sheffieldgothic.home.blog/2018/08/21/t...

Poe's short story 'The Black Cat' was also (very, very loosely) adapted into a 1934 horror film starring Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi! 🐈‍⬛

Kicked off festival season last night at Paracinema with HAUNTED ULSTER LIVE. A brilliant haunted broadcast that begins as a knowing tribute to GHOSTWATCH, lulling you into a false sense of familiarity before morphing into something all its own. Funny, clever, very creepy and lingers in the mind.

Poster for HAUNTED ULSTER LIVE. The title is at the bottom of the poster on a black background. The central image is of Gerry Burns, an aging television presenter who is looking over his shoulder with a frightened expression. The tagline at the top reads “Halloween night, 1998… A live broadcast from a haunted house in Belfast. So disturbing it hasn’t been seen in 25 years.”

Loved watching HAUNTED ULSTER LIVE last night at Paracinema Cult Film Festival in Derby. It's a really funny, GHOST WATCH esque film about a live investigation of a haunted house - and extra spooky for me and Hannah because we're pretty sure we know that ghost! 👻

Poster for HAUNTED ULSTER LIVE. In the middle is a semi opaque side on picture of a man, and in his face you can see a house with a small crowd and film crew. As well as the title there is also the tag line: "Halloween night, 1998...A live broadcast from a haunted house in Belfast. So disturbing it hasn't been seen in 25 years."

Still from the film: on the left is Gerry Burns, an older television presenter wearing a tan coat and blue shirt, on the right is a younger television presenter Michelle, wearing a red devils costume with horns and a blue denim jacket. Michelle is holding a red TV microphone, and Gerry is holding a radio walkie talkie. They are standing in front of a house.
