I'm foolish enough to think I can still use my teeth as tools. This morning while trying to pull the aluminum foil lid off a sheeba cat food container, I popped the cap off one of my front teeth. ( I'm too vain to post a pic of an Alfred E. Neuman look alike)

Yesterday I was having a conversation with my daughter Kellie about whether or not she has an audience in mind when she writes her articles for the advertising supplement for the Sunday paper. I told her that when I write I generally have no audience in mind (now?) the high chair has a nice history

start your engines. at our mansion we use both gas & battery operated equipment. and it's a toss up between our preferences. The gas wins with the lawn mower and the battery wins with the weed whacker etc. & come the dreaded snow in winter, I like the battery over the gas, but the shovel still rules

no morning paper was delivered today so I needed some other words to jump start my imagination. wordle was tough on top of it all. & grace is something I struggle to understand. Flannery O'Connor thinks grace is a new possibility. although, we need a smelling salt to rouse our dormant sensibility

the guy who's running against our governor is more annoying than our president. it's gotten to the point where I'm afraid to open my mailbox for fear he might be in there.

I made a pot of flimsy chop suey for supper. Chop suey is like eggplant, there is no true recipe for it. It's basically a meal that makes people feel as though they can cook. for it to work though, make sure your guests are hungry, get some real nice rice, & above all, those dried noodles are a must

I saw this tiny misplaced portulaca earlier and went back outside to snap a pic of it. Joanna was walking by with her dog Oreo and I told her what I was up to. I pointed to the flower and said to her, this is like a small miracle to me. Do you realize how lucky we are just to be alive, just to talk

I like outrageous and I like flamboyance but I don't much care for loud and boisterous. A subtley that borders on nuance seems like a contradiction and yet it occurs in people and things. Young and old alike, in nursing homes and birthing rooms and forests and churches and second hand bookstores.

many years ago, upon my return from overseas, I was sitting alone in the kitchen, wallowing in drunkness when my mother suddenly walked in & asked, co ty grysie (Polish for, what's gnawing at you). this was not a playful type of gnaw, it was a gnaw that a mom knew that a son needed to snap out of...

on TV this morning I was told that explosive new discoveries were discovered in regards to Thomas Jefferson's hair. hair has always been a big deal for us, whether you have some or have none. I think it's something that people immediately notice, especially when it's being pulled from one's food.

wuzgonna should be a word. I was going to journal about having to take our puppy to the emergency vet last night because my wife fed Tadhg 3-4 grapes while she was enjoying the sweet juicy succulence of the bunch & as usual the dog was wearing his begging costume. These grapes were costly for us.

I finally got Tadhg to stop digging and he relaxed for a few moments and then jumped off and started to bark at the side door gate. I folded my book and pen and got up off my comfortable ass. Whatever Tadhg was parking at had passed. I was going to sit back down in the yard, but I was already bitten

what did the rat say? if I had a fuzzy tail, I'd be cute. Some folks will say that Fall is their favorite season of them all. A snarky person (which I am today) I have noticed) do you like the cold wet slushy rains of November that turn into ice on your drive home from work at an office of snarkies

It's overcast and quiet. Not much was going on until Tadhg jumped up & started barking. I got my morning jolt. for a while in my life there was a pop called jolt. (we called soft drink pop over here) In the Army I learned to take a pull in out of a bottle of coke and toss in a bag of salted peanuts.

fb://note/10158499337134557/734794556_10158499337134557 when someone asked me if they could borrow my pen,I would respectfully ask them if they knew how to use a fountain pen. the same went for when I drove a stick shift and somebody wanted to borrow my car. can you drive a stick. equally difficult

today marks the anniversary of my entry into the US Army in 1966. while I was in nam in 1968 I was assigned to the Ist Logistical Command and our patch was proudly referred to as the leaning shithouse. while in nam I got dysentery and I served my duty well. no shit Charlie. just running waters.

I was outside with Taghg & he became unruly at 6:30 a.m. so I dragged his ass back into the house because it's the weekend & some may like to rest. The Geranium has not been touched up, it is presented to you sans make- up, so too are the words in this morning's journal entry. Forgive us our laxity

@tsuno85.bsky.social my father was too young for WWI and too old for WWII, but the government made him work at a local aircraft assembly plant. He was a painter/artist by trade and when people used to ask me what my father did during the war, I said he painted stars of the wings of airplanes. Haha.

Peanuts!..idn't we just have those yesterday? We mix it up for the beasts that frequent our yard (our sanctuary) but mostly they seem to like the plain, ordinary, ( no fancy feast necessary) generic brand of peanuts work just fine. Do you remember the song, Mrs. Brown you've got a lovely daughter?

I'm so dated, not many people read Joyce or Faulkner anymore, probably not even in college. I'm thinking, probably no one that would ever pick up my journal would connect to what I'm writing about. In your studies did you ever read Flaubert's, Madame Bovary, or watch the John Ford film, Stagecoach

the case against automatic: sitting in line at the drive through at Tim Horton's, a little spider alighted upon my windshield. I wanted to capture the little fellow with my cellphone, but the autofocus kept on going beyond my imagination. I could have shifted to manual focus, but the line was moving

I believe when the heart gets a dose of fresh blood, it takes the first shot for itself & then pumps it off to the rest of the body. so, to me it's essential to fill your lungs with loving kindness as you breathe in so that when you breathe out some of that loving kindness goes out into the world.
