A stronger future relies on achieving good growth in every postcode. By working with the government and business, we'll deliver the jobs and opportunities people are crying out for. Great to welcome Dan Tomlinson to discuss how we unlock growth in West Yorkshire and beyond.

I promised to bring buses back under public control, and we're doing exactly that. Signing the first contracts for services is the next step to improving our public transport. For the first time, operators will run buses on behalf of passengers, to standards set by us.

As someone who grew up in a council flat, today's news is personal. I want every child in West Yorkshire to have that same stable foundation that I had. Now, over £440 million is coming to our region to build thousands of much-needed council and social homes.

The biggest transfer of power from Westminster in a generation… Now that’s real devolution.
This is real devolution and exactly what mayors have been pushing for so we can deliver further and faster for our communities. Giving extra powers and a proportion of income tax to regions means people will be able to see and feel the real benefit of their hard work and where that money is going. This will enable us to deliver on our ambitious plans.

Cooperation, finding common ground, and putting place over politics. These are the tools of being a mayor, and ones that our new Prime Minister is going to bring to the table. Politics has to work for ordinary people. As mayors we're ready to help @andyburnham.bsky.social deliver.

The public are paying the price for Yorkshire Water’s failings. The company’s recent one-star rating just reeks of total incompetence. Greater public control of water companies is the only way to protect our communities and environment for future generations.
