@vancolour.bsky.social do you feel like taking a break from the Vancouver election and jump into #NewWest election coverage? We've had a mayoral candidate ghost at least 5 community groups. We could use some help finding him and getting some answers.

For the past week, I've heard a lot of people say "provincial and municipal elections happening at the same time is confusing, especially since I don't fully understand what a city is in control of." So, I did a four minute explainer piece to try and help www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqlh...

More on the #NewWest Council Strategic Priorities Plan “report card” from last week. One of the pillars was supporting economic development that focussed on serving the local community, small businesses, artists, & residents of #NewWest. 3 years later the indicators - and the vibes - are good!

Noooooooo 😥 Lisa is the absolute best. Always a highlight when we get to hear her great stories! Just recently when she was covering for holidays, I was thinking, should you or Gloria retire, what a great team Amy and Lisa would make. Much sadness that that dream shall never become a reality :(

If only we spent this much money, focus and energy on finding actual solutions to mental health issues. Mental health supports BEFORE crisis would likely help public safety issues.

OpenAI is not the problem. Lack access to mental health resources is the problem.

Words fail right now. The #NewWest community stands with the community of Tumbler Ridge. Our flags will stand at half mast to mark our shared grief. If you are hurting because of this and need someone to talk to, remember crisis responders are available 24/7. 📞 Call 1-800-668-6868

As you check your updated property assessment values in British Columbia, a yearly reminder that: - If your property value decreased, you aren't necessarily getting a tax reduction - If it increased by a bunch, your aren't necessarily getting a huge spike - Every municipality is slightly different

The world may be falling apart and a big pile of poo. But there is brightness, good and love. For example, my 16 year old saw how tired I was this morning and made me a cup of tea before leaving for School 🤩💚🩷

The International Criminal Court is ditching Microsoft Office, saying it’s too dependent on US tech, in favor of Open Desk, a German open source alternative. The move comes after Microsoft revoked ICC head Karim Khan’s email access when he was sanctioned by the US for the warrant against Netanyahu.

I’m gonna come out and say it: Vancouver is having a spectacular fall. - Minimal rain - But also nice CRISP temperatures, puts us in the season - Summer not too hot, so trees kept their leaves, creating full cover for nice colours - No elections or giant weather events to distract from joy 10/10

Density is key. With the move to community mailboxes there may be opportunities for corner stores/cafes as those areas will have a draw from the community. Assuming people are walking there and. It stopping on their way home from work

The first time an Alberta government invoked the notwithstanding clause, public outrage forced a reversal in less than 24 hours. I wish to God Albertans would show the same moral fury now, when school children are outed & bullied by the government that is supposed to protect them. #ableg #abpoli
