Don't love a blindbox set but would be genuinely stoked to get any of these characters.

They're small, energetic, and absolutely fed up.

I think there's just an unsavory self-importance thinking you're special because you aren't fully accepted into one cultural sphere or another. There are many many many different versions of that feeling. Everyone's convinced they're the black sheep.

When I lived in LA, there were a lot of Wasians – more than there were on the East Coast. And tbh, the lesson I came away with was that while, yeah, I enjoy some of them as people, I didn't feel any sense of community with them by virtue of having one Asian parent and one white parent.

Maya Petersen @mayapetersen.bsky.social · 10h

Ever since reading Crying at HMart, the stereotype of the self-absorbed Wasian awkwardly trying to squeeze into a victimhood narrative crystallized for me. While I have no self-hatred for that part of me, I'm so glad I don't get hung up on that part of my identity anymore. 2/2

Maya Petersen @mayapetersen.bsky.social · 10h

Hearing all the recent Wasian disc horse is simultaneously grating and validating. In my observation over the years, it's an intersection that's especially prone to eugenicist-tinged narcissism and solipsism despite a lack of meaningful cultural commonality and it's weird and uncomfortable.

More spoiler-free KoG episode 2 character layouts. East Asian Maleficent and Lisa Simpson.

KoG episode 2 quick lazy spoiler-free character layouts post. My first layout assignments - fucked up little robot guys. It's like they read my diary.

knights of guinevere episode 2 character layout - creepy pink and creepy green nurses

Another character layout drawing of the creepy blue and...creepy nurses. I thought the little guy was based on Jollibee, but now I'm putting it together it's a chipmunk?

Looking through old episode 2 character layout assignments, and truly don't know what I was thinking raw dogging it out here in 72 dpi for months and months. Like what was actually wrong with me. These are unpostable.

that time i watched the gaslight district pilot for the first time and didn't realize it defaulted to the japanese language so i just assumed it was an intentional and interesting artistic choice that these creatures in this apocalyptic world would adopt japanese as their lingua franca.

thinking about the popularity of so many "redraw trends" and plagiarism of compositions by all sorts of artists (it comes up often for gposing but 2D artists do it too). i have to sum up my discomfort with it as follows: it's artists treating other artists the same way A/I treats art as data

Drawing has only ever been gratifying as an energetic outlet for my hyperfixations. Which would be fine if I had any of that going on now, but I don't because I'm a broken old person with only a palette of muted, muddled emotions except anger and peevishness.

I sure love doing this thing that's extremely subjective that reflects back to me how uninspired and uninteresting and inadequate I am as a person!
