Reapers are unmanned though, so shouldn't that be a non issue? Very cool!

Max Lenormand @maxlenormand.bsky.social · 10/06/2025

What are some of the greatest contributions of SRTM? I'm looking for real world application, uses cases. Best lead so far is a 2011 "SRTM DEM and its application advances" that goes over some research papers + shows it was used in some natural disaster mapping The more specific the better

That’s a pretty reasonable answer, and makes sense, I hadn’t thought about that

Completely unrelated but why are they flying in a hexagon pattern? Naively looks more complicated than a circle?

A few radar images made their way into Johnny Harri’s last video about War in Space And I couldn’t help but smile seeing my name in the corner there too!

YouTube recommendations is still so wild to me This video was sitting at ~50 views a day for a long time and suddenly just got recommended again to tens of thousands of people YT is really like building a catalog of content that has many years shelf life

I'm looking for any info about how & why it was decided to use the Space Shuttle do create SRTM in 2000 A few questions I have: - How of the world had we mapped in 3D before 2000? - Why the Space Shuttle over a dedicate satellite (or pair of satellites) - How the data was processed

I write to think It forces me to have to bring all the different colliding thoughts going on in my mind into a single, sequential output: only one word after the other Editing a first draft is a skill I've noticed helps me think in better ways as well. I still prefer doing this myself

For context: I don’t know much about your work, and I’ve spent relatively little time in academia and much more in the industry I agree with a lot of your points, and many of them are why I didn’t want to continue in academia in the first place I hope academia can adapt, we deeply need research

I’ve really been enjoying reading Mr Money Mustache’s back catalog of blogs over the last few months His latest today on the current status of the stock market is no exception. Great read: stay calm and stay the course, wild times are the norm www.mrmoneymustache.com/2025/02/25/s...

Max Lenormand @maxlenormand.bsky.social · 01/02/2025

Oh I’d love to read up on your thoughts on the whole process once you’re done! I’ve been seeing more people take on projects like that and I’m both inspired and completely clueless as to the process, and results people can achieve Also just really liking my current frame bag and no real need

Oh cool! Do you know about Obisidan? You might like the idea, it’s a markdown editor to link notes together But you are in control of all your files, great for keeping notes for oneself over time

@gregmilner.bsky.social big fan of your book PinPoint! I'd really like to have a chat but can't get a hold of you but I do see you're following me here so: Hi 👋 What's the best way to get in touch? 😄

I’ve listened to a bunch of podcasts with authors, but don’t remember any with editors Are there good conversations with editors talking about their craft? Helping others write better?

I'm doing more & more research on the history of GPS and I'm amazed by the official US Gov's dedicated website for GPS: gps.gov It's so old school it actually looks cool And it ends up quite easy to navigate (would have been ironic otherwise)

That makes sense Though how much is the weight of the tire compared to that of the whole car? I can’t help but feel like pressurised tires are a more complex & fragile setup

000

Max Lenormand @maxlenormand.bsky.social · 05/01/2025

Good point on metal tires I’d broaden the question: any reason why we couldn’t make rubber tires that don’t require being pressurised?

200

Max Lenormand @maxlenormand.bsky.social · 05/01/2025

The Moon rovers during after Apollo 12 had tires that weren’t inflatable, they worked without needing pressurised air Why don’t all cars have that? Why do we still get flat tires if better designs exist? Does it cost too much?
